Formerly known as the Victoria and Albert Museum, Dr. Bhau Daji Lad Museum happens to be the earliest museum built in the Indian city of Mumbai. Established back in the year 1855, the structure was first used as a storehouse of industrial and decorative arts. However, in the year 1975, it was renamed in honor and memory of the great scholar, Dr. Bhau Daji Lad.
