Talakad

 Talakad is a town of archaeological significance situated on the banks of River Kaveri. In Talakad you get to witness some extraordinary temples which are submerged in sand dunes. The site is also famous for temples of five lingams- Pathaleshwara, Maruleshwara, Arkeshwara, Vaidyanatheshwara and Mallikarjuna which represent the five faces of Lord Shiva.

It is said that the Pathaleshwara temple changes colours from morning to evening. It is red in the morning, black in the afternoon and turns white in the evening. Talakad attracts history buffs, photographers, nature enthusiasts and Lord Shiva devotees as it is a site of religious significance.
