The Mysore Palace is one of the most magnificent buildings in the heart of Karnataka. It represents Indo-Saracenic architecture, a blend of Hindu, Muslim, Rajput and Gothic styles, and offers visitors a great cultural diversity.

It was home to the Wadiyar dynasty, who used it as their official residence and seat of royal power. The building with its large domes, turrets, arches and intricate details is a visually appealing masterpiece.

The palace, originally built of wood, was rebuilt after it caught fire during one of the wedding celebrations in the early 1890s and the British architect Henry was commissioned to build the new palace.

Every Sunday, on public holidays and during the Dussehra festival, the palace is illuminated with almost 100,000 lights, creating a breathtaking sight that attracts numerous visitors from all over the world who come to enjoy the spectacular sight.
