As there are many trekking routes here, one has to know if a permit is required to trek here. Pantnagar about 127 kms from Almora is the nearest airport. The railway station at Kathgodam is 90 kms from here which is connected to Delhi, Lucknow, Dehradun and Calcutta by train. Private taxis and state government buses operate between Kathgodam and Almora.
