Ziro Music Festival

Ziro Festival of Arunachal Pradesh is a four-day outdoor music festival set in the paddy fields and pine ridges of Ziro Valley, hosted with pride by the Apatani community. The 2025 edition is scheduled for 25 to 28 September with a strict no single-use plastic approach, and a line-up that blends Indian indie with select global acts across the Danyi, Pwlo and Takvr stages. You will need travel permits to enter the state- Indians can apply for an ILP, and foreign nationals can apply for a PAP for the same. Most travellers reach via Donyi Polo Airport near Itanagar or Lilabari Airport, then continue by road to Ziro.

Sunrise over paddy fields and pine ridges sets the scene for the Arunachal Pradesh Ziro Festival. The site sits inside a living valley, not a city ground, which keeps the mood calm and community led. Hosted by the Apatani community, the Ziro Festival in Arunachal Pradesh is widely regarded as India’s greatest eco friendly outdoor festival, with bamboo built stages, plastic free operations and a clear leave no trace ethic. If a mesmerising venue, breathtaking surroundings, and a listener friendly crowd sound right, the Ziro Festival of Arunachal Pradesh belongs on your calendar.

Ziro Festival 2025: What Makes It Different

Ziro Festival Arunachal is an independent music gathering that began in 2012. It was created by Bobby Hano and Anup Kutty. The idea was simple- put good artists on a clean, open stage in a valley where the community leads the welcome. That core still stands, and the focus remains on Indian indie, along with a few hand-picked international acts.

You can experience folk musical performances, singer-songwriter sets, rock, and live electronica. Artists from the North East get strong billing and listeners come to discover new names instead of chasing large headliners. That is what brings out the real value of the Arunachal Pradesh Ziro Festival.

This year’s line up includes some renowned names of bands and artists, such as Uniyal, Swanand Kirkire’s Baawra LIVE, Swarathma, and Shilpa Rao.

A Sustainable Approach
The volunteers of the festival help with waste segregation and water refill stations.  Ziro music festival Arunachal Pradesh also ties into local arts, with workshops and community sessions often running during the day.

What you will notice on ground?
  • Stages and bridges built with local bamboo and wood, which are reused each year
  • Signboards made from reclaimed wood with eco paint
  • A strict no single-use plastic policy
  • Tamul plates and leaf bowls in food lines
  • Free water refill points so you can avoid bottles
  • Drinks served in bamboo mugs
  • Festival timings respect the valley and the neighbours.
  • Carry your own bottle and a small cloth bag for any purchases, and sort your waste at the bins. These steps matter here, and they are easy to follow.
The Stages and Experience
The two main stages of Danyi and Pwlo are usually used alternately so that you can catch most acts without long walks. The Takvr stage runs night sessions and may have limited capacity. Daily timings and curfew windows are set in agreement with the local community and shared close to the dates. In past editions, Danyi and Pwlo have run through the afternoon to about 10 at night, and Takvr has hosted late-night live electronica since 2023.

I find it extremely hard to summarize our Arunachal tour as it was both fun and thrilling. We were picked up from the Airport at Guwahati by a representative and were taken to a plush hotel. I and my partner planned for an adventurous honeymoon trip and went ahead with our Arunachal plan. I do not know what makes this destination so less hyped among the tourists because we had the most wonderful tour. A big part of the credit goes to Thrillophilia for arranging the tour so nicely and covering maximum spots in just 7 days. The stay at the exotic wildlife camp near the Airport and spending a night amidst nature in the dark was surreal. My partner is always looking for some thrill and this tour was every bit thrilling. We witnessed wildlife in their natural setting, visited the Bomdila Monastery, and visited the Jaswant Garh. I am a picky eater but I thank Thrillophilia to have arranged good hotels that serve clean and delicious meals. We recommend Thrillophilia for always ensuring wonderful hospitality during the entire trip and for arranging the best activities.

I have visited Arunachal Pradesh before but this time I was going there with my four friends. We had a fascinating travel experience visiting the wildlife sanctuaries, monasteries, and the lakes in Arunachal. Our tour package was inclusive of the restricted area permit and we absolutely love how our tour guide made our journey a memorable one. We set out for nature walks in the Nameri National Park, visited the apple gardens, the hot water springs and Sela Pass. We were served healthy breakfasts at the hotel and unleashed our tiredness with a helicopter ride. The memories of our stay in an eco-camp at Guwahati will always be on our minds. Totally recommend Thrillophilia for arranging a power-packed tour during corona times and making reservations in hygienic hotels.

Superb
It was a last-minute decision to explore the northeast and luckily we found Thrillophilia. Had a whale of a time, riding our motorbikes at 3500 meters and having connected to nature. Exploring the Tawang Monastery, examining the historic buildings, and gazing upon ancient scriptures, all on our 11-day tour is unbelievable. I would like to give credit where it’s due and thank Thrillophilia to have made stunning arrangements at camps. Absolutely love how I could feast upon delicious vegetarian dinners at such remote locations. If you are a confident rider and have a valid motorcycle operator license, I suggest you take up this tour. The snowy paths, a reflection of the snow-capped mountains on the bike’s mirror, and sipping on butter tea, at one of the stalls, will always remain dear to my heart.

Experiencing North East India’s unparalleled beauty was always on my mind but I had my quirks. I did not want the usual air travel or train travel so I signed up for a Motorcycle tour of the Tawang in Arunachal Pradesh with Thrillophilia. And, boy! Was I impressed? Hell Yes, My friend and I bagged their exclusive tour and went on to explore the historic buildings of Tawang, rode along the snow-coated mountainous paths, shimmering lakes and interacted with the Monpa tribes. A big shout out to Thrillophilia for fine arrangements like comfy tents to spend the night and delicious meals!
25 January 2020
Excellent
We had the most remarkable tour with Thrillophilia. Not only was everything perfect but in every instance we felt that we are being taken good care of. I had bought a 10 days 9 nights package from Thrillophilia at a steal price for a family tour. The four of us had an overnight stay at a Guwahati hotel and set out for Tezpur/Bhalukpong after a heart breakfast in the morning. Seated in an air-conditioned vehicle we set out to explore the Tipi Orchidarium, Nag temple and relished piping hot momos and coffee during our trip. I was amazed at how I could soak in the beauty of the Nuranng Fall and visit the Kalachakra and Dirang monasteries on the same day. If you are planning for a trip to Arunachal and are seeking a wildlife experience, I totally recommend Thrillophilia.
