By Rail: The nearest train station to Shimla is Kalka Railway Station, just 90 km away. The train journey from Kalka to Shimla takes about 5-6 hours. The Kalka-Shimla Railway, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, offers a scenic ride through the hills. Chandigarh Railway Station is also nearby, only 113 km from Shimla.

By Road: Shimla has good road connections to nearby big cities like Delhi, Dehradun, Kalka, Rishikesh, Haridwar, and Chandigarh. You can reach Shimla easily via well-kept highways like NH 1 and NH 22. The HRTC (Himalayan Road Transport Corporation) runs buses regularly on these routes. River Rafting in Kullu Manali

Jogini Waterfalls

Jogni or Jogini Waterfalls is a stunning waterfall located near the Vashisht village of Himachal Pradesh and is at a distance of 7.5 kilometres from the Manali Bus Stand. This waterfall is made by a stream that merges into the Beas River downstream and marks the boundary of the Vashisht Village.

Hadimba Temple

Built by Maharaja Bahadur Singh back in 1553, the Hadimba temple or Hidimba Devi temple is an ancient cave temple located in Manali, Himachal Pradesh. Also known as Dhungari Temple, it is dedicated to Bhima’s wife, Hidimba Devi, from the Indian epic Mahabharata and is surrounded by Dhungiri Van Vihar, a cedar forest.

The temple has several worshippers during the Navratri who come here to worship Hidimba Devi. The temple has a wooden “Shikhar” above the sanctuary and an intricately carved wooden door with carvings of goddess Durga on the main door. Manu Temple

Manu temple is an ancient shrine dedicated to the Indian sage, Manu, who was considered the creator of this world. The temple was reconstructed in the year 1992 and vaulted ceilings and marble floors were fixed in it. Vashisht Temple

Located in the Vashisht village of Manali, the Vashisht temple is an ancient temple (approximately 4000 years old) and is dedicated to the Kula Guru of Lord Rama, sage Vashisht from the Indian epic Ramayana. Manali Wildlife Sanctuary

Great Himalayan National Park

Established in the year 1984 in the Kullu region of Himachal Pradesh, the Great Himalayan National Park stretches across an area of 1171 square kilometres. Often included in the Shimla Manali package of wildlife enthusiasts, the national park houses approximately 375 fauna and several flora species such as birds, reptiles, mammals, annelids, molluscs, amphibians, and insects.
