Situated above 8200 ft on the mountains this homestay offers the most beautiful views of the lush green mountains and Kaudia forest. As the name suggests the stay is situated away from the hustle-bustle of the city and has everything largely recycled or reused. The stay offers 3 humble traditional cottage built in mud and stone albeit with huge glass windows that frame the phenomenal views. With an aim to minimize the carbon footprint of the traveller, the stay runs on the concept of no electricity, no televisions and no
Internet. As the stay, apart from the kitchen does not have any electricity by design, it gets lit up on candles and kerosene lamps in the evenings.
For outdoor enthusiasts, a guided exploration of Kaudia forest trail is a must. It is just 3 km from the stay and here they pass through one of the richest agricultural and goat belts in areas where people are still involved in their ancient & indigenous ways of living. Guests can take the goats for grazing, milk them, harvest the food from these farms, and cook & eat with the farmers.
One can also trek to Khurath/Kaniyun. The guests are provided with wholesome local Garhwali meal, which includes Harshil rajma, homegrown leafy vegetables, hot mixed grain rotis, and red rice, etc. all produced in tune with the retreat’s eco practices. Later, end the special day with a bonfire and watching a beautiful sun setting in the mountains.
