Bangalore to Nandi Hills by Car

From many places in Bangalore, you can hire a cab to reach Nandi Hills. Now, several cab service providers operate in and around Bangalore city. However, a journey to Nandi Hills in the cab will be quite costly given the fact it is in the outskirts of the city. From the Kempegowda International Airport, you can also hire a taxi to reach the place. You can book cabs online with ease. Cabs are also available from the Chikkaballapur railway station which is 10 km away.

If you are planning to reach Nandi Hills from Bangalore via bike or scooter, that is certainly possible but there are limitations.  There is a motorable road to the top of the hill. However, it is steep and has 40 curves before you can reach the entry gate. After this point, 4 wheelers are allowed but the same is not true for 2 wheelers.

You may also choose to climb the hills using steps from the entry gate and it is not ideal for the faint-hearted visitors.

Bangalore to Nandi Hills by Bus

The majority of tourists heading to Nandi Hills prefer bus over other means of transport. You will get the buses from Bengaluru’s Kempegowda Bus Station, also called Majestic. The interesting thing is that there are two rates for tickets in the same bus. The regular tickets are priced below INR 50 and those have to be bought on the bus. However, you can book bus seats from Majestic ticket counter, which will cost you INR 200! It just ensures you get a specific seat on the same bus and nothing more.

You get direct buses from Bangalore to Nandi Hills and these are managed by KSRTC. The first bus to the hilltop leaves at 8.30 AM. Returning direct buses leave the Hills between 2.30 and 5 PM. However, these timings may change slightly.  There are no direct buses in the afternoon.

In case, you miss the direct bus to the Hilltop, there are other ways to go to Bangalore by road. You can use regular bus service. You can use local buses to reach Chikballapur which costs approx INR42. From there, you can take private buses to reach the hilltop. These buses leave every 30 minutes and reaching the hilltop may take 30 minutes from Chikballapur.

Skandagiri

Skandagiri is one pretty hill located adjacent to Nandi Hills region and Chikkaballapura. It has become Bengaluru’s own paragliding destination. The hill peak is heaven for the adventure freaks and also for camping. A nice stone house structure is also there at the top. Skandagiri has a hill fort set up by Tipu Sultan though it has been ravaged by both time and nature which makes it one of the best places to visit near Bangalore within 100 km.

The path to the top of the hill is ideal for trekking lovers. There are well-marked pathways and at the top, you get an amazing view of the region. You can actually feel the clouds are very close at the peak!

Visit to Bhoga Nandeeswara Temple

While it is enticing to the religiously inclined visitors, the ancient and majestic bhoga Nandeeswara temple is also liked by other types of tourists. It is located 15 km away from the Nandi Hills (at its base) and has roots in the 9th century AD. The Bhoga Nandiswara temple is now under the Archaeological Society of India. Inside the main temple, weddings still take place.

Devoted to Lord Shiva, it is a big temple and the Dravidian architecture is quite amazing which is also a perfect place for day outs in Bangalore. This temple complex has three shrines- all dedicated to lord Shiva, namely Uma Maheshwara Temple, Bhoga Nandeeshwara Temple and Arunachaleshwara Temple.

Tipu Sultan's Fort

A major historical sightseeing in Bangalore, the Devanahalli fort is associated with the most impressive monarch of Southern India who gave the British invaders sleepless nights Tipu Sultan. It is a destination near Bangalore within 200 km and a must visit during your trip from Bangalore to Nandi Hills. It has been used for shooting several film sequences over the years.

"firstly i took 3 days after coming back from here to make a time to write this because the experience that made me to give much importance for this. 1) the amount i paid for this is 2500 rs for 2 people for basic plan of 2 days but in the google it is showing 5500 rs something so i recommend to book from here itself. 2) nothing to worry about forgetting to carry your stuff because you will find peace without taking anything only thing you dont need to miss is camera, clothes. 3) once i took muddy road from main road i was scared about place untill once i reached and had a conversation with manager but there is no need worry about anything it is very safe and clean too. 4) one more thing i need to share is the very scary thing is we 2 are the only guest they had on that date, we felt very richness in their treating. 5) the manager was so friendly and humble that he explained about plans about the stay and we met a boy tejas he took care about us. 5) after finishing swimming we went to snackes with coffee and tea both and one more thing is i suggest to try egg bonda there because it was awesome to me. and with music we eat snackes the feeling was very cool 6) at 6:30 tejas took us near pool for fire with a music and we spent upto 9:30 near fire camp and we went to dinner and because the only guest is we, they asked for preparing dinner. the food was very nice while having food we meat a one more manager and he made us to stay in room which is not allowed in our plan it wad awesome and we spent some time by playing carom and others and we slept in the beautifully room. 7) morning we woke up at 8 and the coffee was ready with a beautiful view of nandhi hills we said no for treaking because we went unprepared but i recommend others to go for treaking at morning 5 to 6 . 8) after having breakfast we went for activity area for riding and some climbing activity but the bike was good i just continued at bike itself. 9) after we spent some time at top of the hills and we went back to room and got ready go leave . 10) this is nothing but to say everyone must feel the place and nature over there .??"

It was a nice experience staying inside Tent and felt comfortable staying. Dinner and breakfast were good. Had a good trekking experience and indoor games. We went on weekdays and no other visitors were present. Check photos for more experience.

Had a great Camping stay at Nandi foothills with my daughter. Food was excellent and the host was making sure to take care each of the guests. Good indoor activities, clean toilets, great campfire experience and a good early morning guided trekking.

My First Camp-in drive with my Family(Wife+Daughter-3 yrs) Pros: 1. Tent is cool & good 2. Place is nice 3. Food taste/quality is good Cons: 1. Rest Rooms are not so clean (No wash rooms for Camp-in) 2. The parking path way was too bad & my car got stuck & i called some support & found the way 3. Bring your own blankets as theirs will not be sufficient 4. Not Kids friendly but Adult friendly spot
