Feed your spiritual soul, and give yourself into the power of lord Shiva at the Thalikkunu Shiva Temple, Kozhikode. This temple has the distinction of being one of the oldest and most revered temples of the Malabar region, making it one of the best things to do in Kerala. It is currently under the supervision of His Highness Zamorian, Calicut.
This temple has been attacked, destroyed, and reconstructed many times, adding to its rich history and mystique. The most notable time was when it was destroyed by Tipu Sultan’s army along with other famous temples like Varackel, Puthur, Govindapuram, etc.
Lord Shiva is the main deity worshipped here in a Shiva Linga form adorned with a silver crescent, with lord Ganpathi, lord Ayyappa, and lord Nagaraja also being present as sub-deities. The temple is built in the traditional Kerala style of architecture, adding to its beauty and antiquity.
