Shalimar Bagh

Linked through a channel to Dal Lake, Shalimar Bagh was a summer home for Mughal emperor Jahangir and his wife. Spread across thirty-one acres, Shalimar Bagh is also known as the “House of Love” and is an ideal spot for honeymooners. Encircled by tall trees of chinar and different hues of flowers, this Bagh welcomes the tourist with a serene and calming environment.

Indira Gandhi Memorial Tulip Garden

The annual tulip festival is it’s major attraction , taking place at the onset of spring between the months of March and May and giving tourists a chance to enjoy beauty at its fullest.

Hazrat Bal

Established by Inayat Begum, this silvery white mosque contains relic known as “Moi-e- Muqquadas” which is widely believed to be hair of Islamic prophet Muhammad. Earlier known as Ishrat jahan (or the pleasure house) it is the only domed mosque in Kashmir. To quench all the religious thirst, one can choose to visit the Hazrat Bal Shrine on the northern banks of Dal lake.

Nigeen Lake

The lake has a tranquil effect on its visitors and the houseboat accommodation within it offers a unique travel experience to cherish for a lifetime. Adjacent to Hari Parbat hillock, though considered a different lake, it is connected to Dal via a narrow strait. it is indeed a jewel of Srinagar with amazing view of sunrise and sunset

Shankaracharya Temple

The Holy abode can be reached by climbing a flight of 243 stairs, hence making it one of the serene places to visit near Dal Lake. The Hindu devotees make it a point to visit Shankaracharya during Amarnath yatra. The feature which stands out is the 20 feet tall octagonal base that supports the square building.no cameras and phones are allowed inside the temple.

Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial Botanical Garden

The garden is peaceful and blooms with vibrant colors of Kashmir's natural landscape, hence offering a blissful respite for visitors. The most promising feature is the central greenhouse with delicate Himalayan orchids grown with precision.

Jama Masjid Mosque

This shrine is good to visit any time but during the first prayer the charm is different. The pious vibe of this place oozes with a feeling of peace and sanctity among the worshippers.

Chashme Shahi

The tourists coming here several times drink water from this spring as many say that the spring has some kind of medicinal properties. It follows in the footsteps of mughal architecture with three terraced gardens through which flows the water of the natural spring. Chashme Shahi has a beautiful collection of rare purple coloured rose poppy gardenia. The light and dance shows within the garden premise are very popular and the visitors are also captivated by rocks, green lawns and eye-catching flowers.
