How to Reach:

By Air: The easiest way to travel to Spiti is by air. The nearest airport is Chandigarh International Airport which operates frequent flights across the country.  

By Road: Next best alternative Shimla is well connected with taxes and buses from Delhi, Chandigarh, and all parts of Himachal Pradesh.

By Rail: Another option is the Kalka Railway Station and Chandigarh Railway Station which are two closest broad gauge railway stations from Shimla.

Day 1
Shimla to Sangla | A Scenic Beauty that Rests in the Greater Himalayas near Indo-Tibetan Border
Sangla
  • Reach Chandigarh early in the morning and meet a representative who will give you a quick overview of the tour.
  • Start off your journey by passing through the rich forests of Deodar, breathtaking views of the valley, snow-covered mountain peaks and fast-flowing rivers.
  • You will then travel along the Sutlej river till Karcham from where you will take a right turn towards Sangla following the Baspa river.
  • Home to a large number of Buddhists, Sangla, with its red apple orchards and luscious cherry trees, is bounded by strapping mountain slopes and sprawling forests.
  • Overnight stay and dinner at the hotel in Sangla.
Day 2
Excursion to Chitkul and Transfer to Kalpa | The Last Inhabited Village at the Indo-Tibetan Border
Kalpa
  • Wake up to a beautiful morning and have a delicious breakfast before going for an excursion towards Chitkul.
  • Chitkul is the last inhabited village before the Indo-China border and here you can also visit the famous ‘Hindustan ka Akhri Dhaba’ for an amazing meal.
  • After exploring the beauty of Chitkul, return back to Sangla.
  • Check out from the hotel and drive back towards Karcham from where you will proceed deeper into the valley towards Powari.
  • At Powari take a left to ride to ReoKong Peo, which is the main town of Kinnaur district from where you will proceed to Kalpa.
  • Spend the night in the beautiful Kalpa village overlooking the Kinnaur Kailash mountains.
  • Overnight stay at camp/homestay in Kalpa.
Day 3
Kalpa to Tabo via Nako | Explore the 'Ajanta of the Himalayas' at Tabo
Tabo
  • After early morning breakfast, you will be leaving for Nako passing through the beautiful Spiti Valley.
  • En route, you will be taking the Indo-Tiber Highway and pass through the Khab bridge that marks the confluence of Spiti and the Satluj River.
  • Take a short stopover at Nako Lake and have lunch, after which you will be entering the Spiti Valley right as soon as you cross Sumdo.
  • Just 3 Km after Sumdo, take a detour on the right through the gate to visit the 500-Year-Old Mummy in the Gue Village.
  • You will then proceed towards Tabo.
  • Overnight at a hotel in Tabo.
Day 4
Excursion to Dhankar and Transfer to Lahlung | A Town where Mountains change Colours Based Upon the Mood of Deity
Lallung
  • After a delicious breakfast, you will proceed towards Lahlung in Kinnaur Valley.
  • On the way take a small detour towards the right to visit the tiny hamlet of Dhankar, perched high above the confluence of the Spiti and Pin River.
  • If time permits, do take an hour’s climb above the village to visit the stunning turquoise Dhankar Tso or Dhankar Lake to enjoy stunning views of the valley.
  • You will then start your journey further towards Lahlung which is another small product in Spiti Valley.
  • Overnight stay at a homestay/hotel in Lahlung.
Day 5
Excursion to Pin Valley and Transfer to Kaza | Catch a Glimpse of Ghost Cats in the Maze of Daunting Trails
Kaza
  • Post breakfast, you will start your drive towards the beautiful Pin Valley.
  • Imagine a national park with an abundance of animals and birds, with some rare plant varieties, a river that gushes when it isn’t frozen and trekking opportunities for the adventure-seekers. The Pin Valley promises all this and more.
  • You will be first visiting the Kungri Monastery and then the beautiful hamlet of Mudh, which is the last motorable village of the Pin Valley.
  • Declared a national park in 1987, Pin Valley is home to at least 12 endangered snow leopards in addition to other animals indigenous to the region like the Siberian ibex, bharal, weasel, red fox, and marten.
  • Birds such as the pika, griffon, golden eagle, bearded vulture, Chukor and Raven will be painting the skies with a pretty picture as you drive through the beautiful Pin Valley.
  • You will drive to Kaza in the evening.
  • Overnight stay in Kaza
Day 6
Sightseeing in Kaza | Walk the Artistically Painted Rooms at Key Monastery
Kaza
  • Post early morning breakfast, go out to explore the spectacular beauty of Kaza.
  • Visit the tourist spots including the Key Gompa Monastery that is nestled between the mountains in a bowl-shaped valley of the small village Langza in Spiti valley.
  • Langza lies at a whopping height of about 14,500 ft. above sea level and also considered to be one of the highest villages in the world with a motorable road and the nearby Komic Village is the highest village.
  • Hikkim is a village in the Spiti district, close to Kaza which is one of the highest year-round inhabited locations in India.
  • After exploring the beautiful villages of Langza, Hikkim, and Komik.
  • Return back to your hotel in Kaza for an overnight stay.
Day 7
Kaza to Chandratal via Kunzum La | Explore Glistening Lake that Changes Colours Throughout the Day
Chandra Taal
  • Post breakfast, you will proceed towards the next location which is the beautiful crescent-shaped Chandratal Lake.
  • After passing Kunzum La you will take a right before Baltal to visit the Chandratal Lake.
  • The beauty of this place is spectacular and you will have to leave behind the vehicle and then trek for two kilometres to reach the lake.
  • The lake is situated in the Spiti part of the Lahaul and Spiti district and is also called the “Moon Lake” due to its crescent shape.
  • It is overlooked by the mountains on one side and a cirque on the other. After the sunset the lake glitters under the starlit sky adding to its overall charm.
  • Enjoy dinner and overnight stay at the camps near Chandratal.
Day 8
Chandratal Lake to Manali via Rohtang | Witness Spellbinding Views of Geypan Peaks
Manali
  • Today you will be leaving behind the Spiti Valley and driving towards Manali.
  • On the way, you will be crossing the Rohtang Pass and reach Manali by the evening.
  • Once you reach Manali, this marks the end of your memorable tour to Spiti Valley.

  • Climatic conditions in the high altitudes vary from the plains; it is advisable that you take adequate time to get acclimatized to high altitudes.
  • Consult a physician before undertaking the tour. Carry basic medications and a first-aid kit during the tour.
  • It is recommended to carry enough warm clothes and the right kind of shoes for the tour. The advisable baggage weight is 60 litres as you might have to carry the luggage to the backup vehicle, the accommodation, etc.
  • Rates may fluctuate with any change in services/hotels. The difference in the cost shall be borne by the client in case of any amendment in the package due to an increase in the number of guests, hotel change, etc., before the beginning of the trip.
  • The hotels are subject to their availability. In case they are not available, the travellers will be accommodated in a property of similar standard.
  • Thrillophilia reserves the right to rearrange the itinerary due to any kind of disturbance that occurred (i.e weather condition, political condition or any others) without changing the total number of days and without compromising any service.
  • Liability for change in itinerary due to reasons beyond our control like a change in flight and train schedule, cancellation of flights/trains, political disturbances, natural phenomenon, roadblocks, etc. will not be accommodated in the package cost. No bill will be reimbursed for any missed service/facility.
  • Because of any reason natural or personal, if the tour or a particular activity is not completed, no refund will be processed.
  • Pay heed to the tour guides and instructors in order to enjoy a safe and sound tour.
  • All entry tickets for stupas, monasteries, sightseeing, state and entry fees, monument entrances, camera charges, permits, etc. are not a part of the package.
  • GST is applicable to the package cost.
  • Any personal expenses or items of personal nature will not be included in the package. Any meals or transfers not mentioned in the itinerary are to be considered an exclusion in the deal. Any kind of drink (alcoholic, aerated, or mineral water) is not included in the package cost.
  • Any breakage or damage of any items in the resort will be charged at actuals.
  • Carry enough cash as the number of ATMs in high-altitude regions are comparatively less and there are long queues at times.
  • All the travellers are requested to carry a copy of their medical certificate (if any) with them.
  • Transportation during the trip would be in Non AC & Non-Heater vehicles. Please wear clothes according to the weather while travelling.
  • If in case any traveller wants to or decides to leave the trip in the middle, all the expenses from that point onwards will be borne by the traveller. Neither the operator nor Thrillophilia will be held responsible for such decisions or for any refund.
