Dev Diwali Boat Ride Overview

About the Dev Diwali Boat Ride, Varanasi:

Dev Diwali, falling on the 5th November in 2025, is one of the most spectacular festivals in Varanasi. It is observed on the full moon night of Kartik Poornima, celebrating the descent of gods to earth. Unlike traditional Diwali, Dev Deepawali focuses on the spiritual illumination of the ghats and the Ganges, attracting devotees and tourists from across India. The city transforms into a tapestry of lights, with thousands of diyas placed along the riverbanks, temples, and ghats, reflecting beautifully on the waters of the Ganges.

Pilgrims gather to perform rituals, offer prayers, and participate in the Deep Daan ceremony, where floating diyas symbolise devotion and the triumph of light over darkness. The festival is accompanied by devotional music, chants, and temple ceremonies, creating a spiritual atmosphere. Experiencing Dev Diwali, 2025, from the ghats provides a captivating view of the city’s devotion, but a boat ride on the Ganges elevates the experience. It offers an uninterrupted panorama of the illuminated ghats, Ganga Aarti, and fireworks.
