Essential Information For Visiting Paris in Winter

01

Average Winter Weather and Temperature in Paris

Paris in winters remains chilly with a damp rainy climate sometimes accompanied by dirty snow. But, the temperature always falls in between an average range of 6 to 3 degree Celsius (32 F to 46 F) which is often called the Atlantic Winter.

Parisian Winters:
Paris's climate is mostly affected by the North Atlantic currents causing an Oceanic winter throughout. The winter climate also sees foggy skies because of the accumulation of the Atlantic's sea fog with a damp and chilling characteristic weather. The Sun is scarcely seen during winters in the Parisian sky making the climate colder.

Parisian Rain:
The ocean current prohibits the accumulation of frosts and flurries on the ground whenever the snowfall occurs. These currents are usually accompanied by moderate rainfall of about 1.8 inches in Paris all the year-round. Such rains are mostly chilling instead of being humid hence giving an advantage to the tourists.

What to Pack for Paris in Winters

Paris in winters is mostly cold and rainy. But the climate is not at all adverse and requires no extreme preventive measures against the cold. All you need to pack is a warm winter coat and some warm second layer clothing. In addition to this, you must also include boots and rainy weather gear for extra protection against unpredictable showers and frost.

Here are some of the essentials you must pack for our winter trip to Paris:

Thin Sweaters and Coats -
The winter appears to be chilling because of the North Atlantic Currents, but you don't need to pack heavy winter-wear as your insides would be sweltering. Still, to be on a safe side, you can include one or two winter coats in case the temperature falls below 3 C.

Trousers -
Paris in winters is usually damp and dull, making it difficult to wear jeans as it would take extra time in drying. Hence, packing warm pants for the trip not only protects you from the adversaries of climate but can be pulled off easily while travelling.

Woollen Socks -
The chilling air often freezes the feet of the travellers during their expedition. Cotton socks fail in giving you warmer feet in Paris. Hence, a pair or two of woollen socks would be better protected against the cold.

Comfortable Boots -
Paris may be a grand market for all the major footwear brands, but the damp streets make it difficult to do things in winter while wearing a stylish pair of shoes. Don't let the rumours fool you and pack some comfortable boots and shoes protecting you from cold as well as the dampness.

Rain Gears -
It always rains in winters in Paris. So having a raincoat, umbrella, puffer coat or other rain gear would act as further protection.
