The largest museum in Sri Lanka, the National Museum of Colombo was established in January 1877 by Sir William Henry Gregory, the then British Governor of Ceylon (Sri Lanka). Currently maintained by the Department of National Museum of the central government, the museum is home to a lot of important collections, including the crown and throne of the Kandyan monarchs.

Housed in a two-storied building, the museum has a big, well-maintained, lush green lawn right in front that is shaded by mighty banyan trees, which adds to the beauty of the place. As you enter the museum, you shall also find a fourth-century Buddha smiling at you in the lobby. Going forward, you will be mesmerized to find the collections in the museum.

The galleries are as old as 1877, and you shall find all sorts of ancient art, carvings, and statues from Sri Lanka’s past along with a collection of antique demon masks. You can also find guns, swords, and other things from the colonial times. Also known as the Kelaniya Temple, Kelaniya Raja Maha Vihara is a Buddhist temple which is situated seven miles from Colombo. This temple is well known for its magnificent sculptor’s art. Gangaramaya Temple is not only one of the most beautiful but also one of the most iconic Buddhist temples in Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka shelters a good count of endangered species across the globe, and one of the most exciting species amongst them is the sea turtle. The hatcheries along Sri Lanka’s western coast regularly witnesses a good count of sea turtles. Swimming all their way through the mighty Indian Ocean, the Sea Turtles reach hatcheries during their hatching period. To protect these frequent Galle sea coast visitors, the Galle Sea Turtle Hatchery of Sri Lanka was established around 40 years ago. 

This hatchery in Galle has outer walls covered with themed murals portraying vibrantly coloured turtles. Inside, you will find a series of turtle preservation tanks. Every tank is accompanied with a precautionary sign board for visitors. The tourists visiting the hatchery are regularly guided through a live demonstration of depicting the entire life-cycle of sea turtles and their conservation period. The place functions as daycare for all those newborn sea turtles who opened their eyes here for the very first time. The hatchery homes to several small water tanks for protecting these newly born sea turtles. 

Gradually, five different varieties of Sea Turtles are found here at the Sea Turtle Hatchery in Sri Lanka – Olive Ridley, Green Turtle, Hawksbill Turtle, Loggerhead Turtle, and Leatherhead Turtle. All the injured sea turtles are protected within a separate tank, which is specially reserved for their protection. Every member working here at the Galle Sea Turtle Hatchery is trained with the basics of helping all the sea turtles who are in thorough need of medical assistance or all those who are pregnant.

Standing tall along the banks of Beira Lake, Seema Malaka forms a part of the southern region of the Colombo City of Sri Lanka. It lies in conjunction with the Gangaramaya Temple, which is the main shrine there. Residing on three man-made podiums, Seema Malaka Temple stands unrivaled in both its location and architecture. The architectural allure of this temple is highly inspired from the ancient forest monasteries Ritigala and Anuradhapura. The building of the temple is built in the Kandyan style and is characterized by its hanging blue tiled roofs. There is a pontoon boardwalk that links the premises of the Seema Malaka temple with its mainland. The outer boundary wall of this shrine is adorned by numerous Buddha statues representing different sitting postures.

There are three raised platforms which divide the temple and are connected with the walkways. The four-sided blue roof on the central platform of this temple is quite evident. On the very next platform, you have a statue of the Treasury of Truth which has got its own significance. This platform at the Seema Malaka temple is actually a treasure of ancient Buddhist texts, which is usually stored in locked conditions and is accessible only to the monks.

There are beautiful wooden panels embracing the décor of the central building of this shrine - where people reach out for meditation. Amazingly organized by Thrillophilia, this tour is very satisfying as in one package we get all that we are looking for, The arrangement and all were nice and comfortable, talking about the place it is truly a paradise on earth, Each place we visited wow us with its beauty, We get transfers from one place to the other in a very comfortable, clean and spacious vehicle along with a very skillful driver plus very friendly and knowledgable about the place shared with us the history, culture and even the experienced, We covered all the places which had been decided and per planned by the expert which we miss nothing from it, We all really enjoyed during the visit to the elephant orphanage, National Park jeep safari, waterfall, temples, plantation, shopping, etc ... The trip was absolutely great, full of excitment and happiness throughout. This tour is a complete package which you'll experience never like before, We visited the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage which we interact with the cute baby elephant, feeding, bathing, and watching at them we forget all the stress. The gardens, the lake, strawberry plantation, national park, shopping, and all were truly enjoyable...We visited Bentota there we spend our leisure time on the beach and participated in thrilling adventure watersport activity. Lastly, we explore Colombo like anything... Overall it was really a great tour that will be remembered for a lifetime.

The entire journey on this tour was super AWESOME!!! the management was very supportive and helpful at any time we need any kinds of a helps, I and my partner really appreciate with the overall arrangement from the comfortable and standard stayed we had, the transfers were very comfortable and safe with good drivers which we had great sightseeing of the place, we had an amazing time on watersport activities, great walked on the beach, nice foods we had. Places we covered were simply great like a botanical garden, temple, church, great shopping with fair price...Overall the trip was memorable...

Amazing holiday package by Thrillophilia, My family and I had a great experience and we really enjoyed a lot the whole trip, the arrangement was totally excellent, the hotels were very comfortable and the transport too, the meals there was truly delicious especially seafood.
