Popular Destinations to Visit on Egypt Family Trip

1. Cairo: Lying on the banks of the River Nile, Cairo is a beautiful tropical city. Known as ‘the city of a thousand minarets’, Cairo is packed with a plethora of world-famous museums, mosques, churches, and castles. Standing tall against the test of time, this city has perfectly preserved its impeccable old-world charm that you can explore with your selected Cairo holiday packages. The Egyptian Museum, Khan El Khalili, and Tahrir Square are some popular attractions that you can explore with us.

2. Giza: If you want to explore ancient Egypt, consider including a visit to Giza in your Egypt family tour packages. One of the most iconic heritage marvels here, the Great Pyramid of Giza dates back to 2550 BC. Other important historical sites in the city include the Great Sphinx of Giza, the Solar Boat Museum, and the Valley Temple.

3. Luxor: Luxor was the capital city of ancient Egypt and was earlier known as Thebes. Known popularly as the World’s greatest open-air museum, Luxor houses beautiful temples, intriguing tombs, the Western Valley Ruins, and a postcard-perfect desert. Popular attractions like Karnak Temple, Luxor Temple, and Luxor Museum lie on the east bank, whereas the Necropolis lies on the west bank of the Nile.

4. Faiyum: Founded in 4000 BC and nestled in Middle Egypt, Faiyum is known to be the oldest city in the country. It is home to many historical sites and ancient temples dating back to the Pharaonic, Ptolemaic, and Roman periods. If you are including Faiyum in your Egypt family tour packages, you can visit attractions like Madinat Madi, Lake Qarun, and Wadi El Rayan.

5. Aswan: The southernmost city in Egypt, Aswan is home to a total of 5 UNESCO World Heritage Sites. These UNESCO-listed sites are the Old and Middle Kingdom tombs of Qubbet el-Hawa, the town of Elephantine, the stone quarries and Unfinished Obelisk, the Monastery of St. Simeon, and the Fatimid Cemetery. Aswan is known as the Land of Gold as it is the resting place for Nubian pharaohs, who have been buried here in golden sarcophagi.

6. Alexandria: The second largest city in Egypt, Alexandria is known popularly for its pristine beach-fronts and charming coastlines. This city is also famous for its intriguing museums, stunning archaeological parks, and flamboyant historical neighbourhoods. The Citadel of Qaitbay, Montazah Palace, Bibliotheca Library, and the Roman Theater are some of the best tourist places here to visit with Thrillophilia’s family tours in Egypt.

Visa Requirements For Egypt Family Trip

If you are travelling to Egypt from India, you need to have a valid Egypt visa. The Egypt tourist visa is valid for 90 days and can be extended for up to 30 consecutive days. Since Indians are not eligible for an Egypt Evisa, they need to get the visa through the Egyptian embassy or consulate.

You can download the Egypt visa application form from the official consulate website. Next, you must take out the print of the visa application and fill up all the details. Then, you have to submit your form with the necessary documents at the Egyptian embassy in New Delhi or the consulate in Mumbai and pay the applicable visa fees. The Egypt tourist visa fee for Indian citizens is INR 5,999 and the processing time is generally 10 to 15 days.

The documents needed for the Egypt visa include an original Passport with at least 6 months validity, a completed and signed visa application form, 2 recent passport photographs, a personal cover letter, original bank statements of the last 3 months, return flight tickets, and proof of accommodation in Egypt.

Best time to Visit Egypt For a Family Tour:

Egypt can be visited all around the year as each of its seasons offers something unique to the visitors.

1. Peak Season: Spring and winter seasons, which start from mid-October and continue until May are the best time to visit Egypt. During this time of the year, the weather remains pleasant, which is perfect for exploring the various historic icons like the Pyramid of Giza and taking a cruise over the Nile.

2. Shoulder Season: Egypt experiences its shoulder season during March, April, and September. During this time of the year, the daytime temperature remains mild. This is the perfect time to indulge in activities like snorkelling, swimming, and sunbathing in Marsa Alam and Alexandria.

3. Waning Season: The summer season, which continues through June, July, and August is the waning season in Egypt. Since the weather is hot during this time of the year, tourists can enjoy water activities in Cairo, beach parties in Alexandria, sunset cruises on the Nile, and museum hopping in Luxor during this season. The prices of hotels and flights are also comparatively cheaper during this time.

How to Reach Egypt

By Air: India is well connected to Egypt by air via layover flights. Egypt has two main airports - Cairo International Airport and Luxor International Airport. The most convenient way to travel to Egypt is by taking a direct flight to Cairo. The Indian cities of Delhi and Mumbai offer flight services to Cairo International Airport, which is also one of the busiest airports in Egypt.

Travelling to Egypt with my friends group was something we had been planning for a while, and this package made the whole process simple. The mix of Cairo's history and Hurghada's beaches worked really well for our group as we got temples, the Nile, and snorkelling in the Red Sea all in one trip. Thrillophilia handled the coordination really well, which matters a lot when you are travelling in a group.

Badhu arrangement saras hatu, especially our visit to the Abu Simbel temples. The scale of those rock-cut statues is just magnificent. Rahul from Thrillophilia was a huge help throughout the journey.

Coming from the heritage city of Mysore, I was deeply impressed by the architectural grandeur of the Karnak Temple complex. The massive columns and hieroglyphics are a testament to human ingenuity. Karthik at Thrillophilia ensured we had a very comfortable stay throughout.

Sailing on a traditional felucca is a very relaxing way to spend an afternoon on the Nile. The slow pace allows you to really take in the scenery. Thrillophilia organized everything very efficiently.

Visiting the rock-cut temples of Abu Simbel is an absolute must-do in Egypt. The detail in the carvings is breathtaking despite the age of the structure. Thrillophilia's transport was very comfortable for the long drive.
