About Kalimpong

The historical place has been an important landmark on the ancient Silk Route due to its proximity to the Nathu La and Jelep La passes.

Kalimpong is one of the most beautiful places in not only West Bengal but in entire Eastern India known for its stunning countryside comprising hills, lush terrace fields, pastures, hamlets, thick bamboo groves, etc. The native settlers like Lepchas, Nepalese, Sherpas, and Tibetan people have left an indelible mark on its charming monasteries, churches, and temples.

The
One of the best heritage landmarks here is the 18th-century Dharmodaya Vihar Nepalese temple that houses rare Buddhism books. Visit Deolo Hill, which is Kalimpong’s highest point, and enjoy the beauty of the 8-acre garden here where you can also try local food & pony rides & see the huge Buddha statue. Other beautiful attractions include heritage bungalows like Pratima Tagore House, Galingka, Dr. Graham’s House, Morgan House, etc.

Spot leopards, Asiatic black bear, Asian golden cat, etc. at the Neora Valley National Park. Experience the rustic way of life as you trek amidst the forests, stay at homestays, and interact with the locals at villages like Bindu and Jhalong. Enjoy white water rafting and camping at Teesta and Rangeet rivers and the surrounding valleys. Spend a serene day at the Nature Interpretation Centre surrounded by tranquil greenery.
