  3. Our Recommendations: What you can’t afford to miss?

    Sky Tower

The needle like Sky Tower of Auckland is one of the most exquisite tourist attraction of New Zealand. With a height of 328 meters, it is the highest building in New Zealand. In case you are seeking an ideal place to snap the perfect city view, then the Observation Deck is the most ideal place to get your cameras rolling. From the top of the Deck, you can capture views spanning a distance of over 80 km on a clear day. However, for the Sky Tower visitors, it is more than just about the view. New Zealand people have a reputation of turning every attraction into a thrill seeking opportunity and Sky Tower just lives up to the reputation. Here the visitors can enjoy the dizzying views by walking the 192 meter high Sky Walk platform around the pergola of the tower. The adventure enthusiasts can actually base jump off this tower.

    Waitemata Harbour

Waitemata Harbour has a wide sweep which tends to cut Auckland in two (not literally though). It is the most prominent natural feature of the city. Only because of this easily navigable waterway, Auckland was revered as the capital of New Zealand in the year 1840. Today, the capital of New Zealand is Wellington but Auckland still happens to be the economic powerhouse of the country. The central harbor here is commanded by the Auckland Harbour Bridge that was completed in the year 1959. It is over 1 km long long and has a height of 43 meters.

    Auckland’s War Memorial Museum

Auckland’s War Memorial Museum is nestled on the highest point of the Auckland Domain in a vast building that has been in existence ever since the year 1929. The building was first erected as a memorial dedicated to the soldiers of New Zealand who fought in the World War I. At present, the museum houses an impressive collection of artifacts which trace the history of New Zealand right from the time of the first Polynesian settlers to the present day.
  4. What you will like there?

    The beaches

Auckland is the biggest city in New Zealand. It has a number of beaches that even if you live amidst the suburb, you’ll find yourself closer to the beach. The heart of the city flows out and off the water. From there you can walk all the way along the coastal walkway for hours at length. No matter how far you go, you’ll never lose the sight of the shore or the water’s edge.  These are majorly the city based beaches. However, if you further look afield, jumping in car, you can move ahead to one of the renowned New Zealand based beaches such as Bethells and Piha to name a few. If you are a lover of sunglasses, sandcastles and enjoy watching the sails on the yachts waving at the holiday goers on the cruise ships and catching a glimpse of the ice cream melting as it cascades down your hand, Auckland, really is your go to place

    The city

Not much of a beach goer? Fret now! Silo Park, the Wynyard Quarter and the Britomart are just few of the many places to see that lie in the heart of Auckland. And this is just a long water front. Just take a step back from the water and check out some of the incredible shops that the main streets offer you. Gucci, Prada, Louis Vuitton and Top Shop grace the Queen Street with their presence. Shops fringing here are also worth checking out. Alongside these shops, you’ll find the busy businessmen running up and down the streets. Queen St has attractions like the the Town Hall, Civic Theatre and the Aotea Centre and Square. All of these have something or the other interesting happening at all times of the day. While most people stick to the main streets in the centre of Auckland, you must ensure that you wander down to some of the off shoot streets. Tucked in the streets away from the gilts and glamor is the glam and pretty lights, bookstores, small quirky clothing shops, parks and cafes.Auckland also comes in the category of  perfect honeymoon spot in NewZealand.

    The Suburbs

While the city is very good and well planned, if you are not a fan of the hustle and bustle of the city’s life, the nearby suburbs of Auckland are unique and indeed worth a trip. Parnell is the oldest suburb of Auckland and is a home to the Auckland Museum, Ponsonby takes immense pride in its restaurants, boutique shops, bars and cafes. New Market is the ideal shopping central fringed with shops on the street. It is an eclectic mix of boutique and high fashion. People tend to prefer shopping here than at the Queen Street. Besides these, the St Helliers and the Mission Bay are a short ride away. It not just provides a great view of the Devonport but the suburbs across the harbour are the ideal places to relax with a book on the beach. Do visit these suburbs to explore the hidden treasures of Auckland and New Zealand as a whole.
