About Red Light District

Popularly known as De Wallen, the Red Light District is one of the oldest and the most talked-about neighbourhoods in the city, known for its streetside brothel. Situated in the heart of Amsterdam, the streets house several bars, bustling restaurants, picturesque canals, and a variety of shopping destinations. It is an ideal place for pleasure seekers and late-night party mongers.

Besides the red windows, the Red Light District is home to numerous museums that consist of a vast collection of Greek, Egyptian, and Etrian artifacts. Explore the diverse attractions of the Red Light District with our Europe tour packages. Some of the well-known museums in this area are the Hash Museum, Red Lights Secrets, and the Erotic Museum. Visitors can go to a strip club or show, like The Banana Bar or Casa Rosso, for their bachelor parties, or people who are interested in cannabis can learn about the safe use of the drugs in The Cannabis College. You can also learn about the history of prostitution in the Prostitution Information Center, have coffee at The Bulldog, witness the Catholic Church Amstelkring, or pay a visit to the LGBTQ+-friendly Wormoesstraat. The Red Light District also offers a chance to browse through the Nieuwmarkt Market, which remains bustling with tourists due to the lining of cafes, coffee shops, and restaurants.

Red Light District Best Time to Reach

Image

The best time to explore the district’s notable charms such as the museums, canals and churches with your loved ones is in the daytime. However, if you want to experience the nightlife, the best time to visit the place is around 11:00 pm when the district actually comes to life with its swarming crowds and catchy neon lights. The windows generally shut down around 4 am in the morning, thus plan your visit accordingly.

A red light tour is a must to experience the night heritage routine of Amsterdam. We came across some of the infamous Dutch coffee houses, cramped alleys and Prostitution Information Center to know more about the lives of the sex workers in here. Worth the money, thanks to Thrillophilia for getting really amazing offers and discounts.

The Red Light district walking tour was truly one of the most interesting experiences I had throughout my Europe tour. I am glad that I booked this tour from Thrillophilia because of their great deals. We walked along the district, with a guide telling us the history of prostitution in the city. We also stopped at a really lovely coffee shop and stopped at a Church on the way.

The Red Light District in Amsterdam is the city's most well-known attraction, visiting is a must during a tour of the city. With this guided walking tour, I learned not just about the area's history, but also about how well the community has accepted this culture. The trip led us to several coffee cafes and erotic theaters and helped us learn about the district's history of female sex workers.. We booked this tour from thrillophilia and got instant booking confirmation with amazing deals.

Booked: Amsterdam Hop On Hop Off Bus & Boat Tour

This tour on the hop on hop off boat with a boat pass was the best, specially since me and my family were able to explore the famous attractions of Amsterdam, from the Van Gogh Museum and the Anne Frank House, to the Red Light District and more. Will recommend this to everyone and thanks Thrillophilia for great deals and offers on every booking.

Booked: Amsterdam Hop On Hop Off Bus & Boat Tour

I was able to explore the city at my own leisure thanks to the Bus and Boat 48-Hour Pass. During my bus tour, I visited Gassan Diamonds, the Museum District, the Jewish Historical Quarter, and many other well-known locations. I visited NEMO Science Museum, Amsterdam Icebar, Albert Cuyp Market, Rijksmuseum, and Anne Frank House with the boat hop-on/hop-off trip. I spent two days in Amsterdam the way I wanted to, and these passes made it easy, all thanks goes to Thrillophilia.
