About Plaza del Triunfo

Located in one of Spain’s most visited cities, Seville, Plaza del Triunfo is a prominent landmark nestled comfortably on a series of buildings regarded as a World Heritage Site in the year 1987, namely the Cathedral of Seville, the Real Alcázar of Seville and the Archivo General de Indias.

The name Plaza del Triunfo is derived from a famous baroque-style temple situated close to Archivo de Indias. The temple is named Triumph of Our Lady of Patronage. This temple was constructed in 1756.

Plaza del Triunfo is famously called Triumph Square, and is surrounded by prominent structures such as the House of Province, the General Archive of the Indies, the Chapel of Our Lady of Antigua and the Immaculate Conception monument. They also play a homage to sites like Bartolome Esteban Murillo, Miguel Cid, Martínez Montanes and Juan de Pineda.

During the cathedral construction, this building was called Plaza de Los Cantos. After the temple's completion, its name changed to Plaza del Triunfo in the 18th century. Since the monument is located in the heart of the city, it can be accessed easily by different modes of transportation. If you’re looking for a fun-filled vacation, this is an ideal place to visit.
