Nakanoshima Park, Osaka

This rose park takes pride in housing more than 3000 roses. There are more than 300 species of roses and you can find all of them in the park here. The roses are at their best from the middle of May to the beginning of June, along with the end of October to the middle of november. The roses here are known to be more colourful and come with a strong smell. It’s interesting to know that these roses have developed and evolved for the past 150 years.

This park is the go to place to know more about the roses and how they have evolved with due course of time. If you are planning to check out the roses, do note that the roses bloom in full capacity but are lightly coloured in spring. Meanwhile, in autumn, they have a much stronger smell and are more colourfully vibrant.

The Dojima River is a part of the Yodo River and it flows through the northern part of Nakanoshima in Osaka. This river is a part of the first classification of rivers in Japan and is a sight to behold. When in Osaka, you can explore this river by walking along the path of the river.

You can either walk, jog or even unwind amidst the river with both tourists and locals. This river is located close to Nakanoshima Park, making it a popular spot for having a picnic alongside the views of the river. For a better experience, visit the river at night as this is the time when the river is lit up and the light reflects on the water.

The Nakanoshima Festival City is a pair of towers connected, namely the Nakanoshima Festival Tower and the Nakanoshima Festival Tower West. This is a major hub for those interested in business, culture, and arts. The festival tower west is known for its multi-purpose hall and ancient artworks from Japan.

Here, you can find swords, tea goods, and Buddhist artworks. However, in the second tower, you can find a performing venue for concerts and opera performances. The interior designs are known to be of world-class and can accommodate up to 2700 people.

The Osaka City Central Public Hall is a National Important Cultural Property that was built in 1918. It was designated as a National Important Cultural Property in 2002 and has played a key role in the arts scene of Osaka. This is a performing venue for a lot of cultural events, ranging from concerts to opera performances of international artists.

For the past 100 years, this has been the go to place for performing arts. This building is built in a Neo-Renaissance style with red blocks and continues to attract tourists. You can take a guided tour to know more about the place, but it is recommended that it is booked well in advance.
