Established in 1730 AD by Swami Balanand and dedicated to the Hindu god Lord Hanuman, the Mahavir Mandir is one of the most spiritual places to visit in Patna. This magnificent three-storeyed temple features two idols of Lord Hanuman on its ground floor, which further attract flocks of tourists from different corners of the world.
The first floor is home to the idols of Lord Ganesha, Lord Rama, Lord Krishna, Goddess Parvati, Goddess Sita, Goddess Durga, Goddess Saraswati, and Lord Gautama Buddha. You can find the statue of Lord Shiva in a passage around the garbhagriha of this cave-style shrine. All the rituals, the Satyanarayana katha, and the japas are performed in the Sanskar Mandap, on the second floor of the temple. The main offerings made here is ‘Naivedyam’, which is prepared using besan, green cardamoms, cashews, saffron, raisin, and ghee. Among all the tourist places in Patna, this one is most enchanting.
