The Kappad beach, Kozhikode, Kerala, is of historical importance and serene beauty, which makes it a must-include in your Kerala tour package. The beach is known as the landing site for Portuguese explorer Vasco Da Gama from the time he visited on May 20th, 1948. This beach marked the start of European Trade and colonisation in India. There is a stone monument standing on the beach, attracting visitors and history enthusiasts from across the world.
The beach is also home to rare Olive Ridley turtles, and they return annually on the beach to lay eggs in the soft sands. With the efforts, the beach has kept its ecological value and biodiversity intact. Experience a peaceful retreat on the beach, walk and play with the golden sand that shines with each ray of sun falling over it. There are natural rock formations at the beach resting for years, and the crystal clear water from the Arabian Sea flows through them.
Observe lush greenery on either side of the beach and also ethereal views during the sunrise and sunset. The water shimmers as the sun seems like setting and rising through it. Surrounded by cultural and historical sites nearby, visitors can also visit Kappad Vattakotta Fort, Tali Temple in Kozhikode.
