Barcelona Botanical Garden

The Barcelona Botanical Garden (Jardí Botànic de Barcelona) is a botanical garden located in the Montjuïc mountains of Barcelona. The garden was founded in 1999 and occupies an area of over 15 hectares. The garden is home to more than 1,000 plant species, as well as a library, herbarium, and research center. 

The Barcelona Botanical Garden is divided into a series of terraces. The lower terraces are home to the Mediterranean Garden, which features plants from the Mediterranean region. The upper terraces are home to the Arid Garden, which features plants from arid regions of the world. The gardens also feature a series of ponds and streams. 

You can also find five other sections based on the different locations of the world where the trees and plants come from. In addition to the Australia section where you can find the Silicon Shrubs, you can also head to the South Africa section, which is home to the Savanna trees. Then there is the California section, which boasts redwood trees, as well as the Mediterranean section.

• When planning to visit the Botanical Garden of Barcelona, ensure that you arrive here as early as possible, when the weather is calm and pleasant.
• Make sure to have at least 3 to 4 hours of time on hand so that you can explore the entire gardens without missing any of the attractions.
• It is best to wear comfortable shoes instead of heels because there will be a lot of walking required here.
• Try to visit the Barcelona Botanical Gardens during the weekdays, except Thursdays, since Thursday and the weekends are the busiest days here, with a lot of visitors.

• By Bus: You can take Bus number 150 from Plaça Espanya/Maria Cristina and get off at the Olympic Stadium, from where you can take a 5 to 10-minute walk to the Botanical Garden. You can also take bus number 55 and get off at the Viver Tres Pins stop, which again, is located around 5 minutes from the gardens. 
• By Metro: You can avail a ride on the L1 or red line or the L3 or green line metro and get off at the Plaça Espanya. From here, you can either take a bus to the gardens or walk for around 35 minutes to reach the Botanical Gardens. 
• By Montjuïc Funicular: You can also ride the Montjuïc funicular, which is connected to the L3 and L2 metro lines. From here, you can take a 5 to 10 minutes walk to the gardens.
