Maori is one of the oldest remaining cultures of the world. The Maoris have preserved their culture so well that you will feel like you have traveled back in time. On taking up the Mitai Maori village tour you will see the glowworms illuminate their natural habitat and listen to the interesting stories by the locals.

Experience the traditional waka:
Waka is a long traditional boat which is driven by hand pedals and used by the Maori people for transportation. You will be welcomed by the Maori warriors in their traditional dress on the waka feast on both Maori and western food on opting for the Mitai Maori Village. 

Witness the magical glowworms & bushes:
The region has a wide variety of flora and fauna, in which you will find some magnificent glowworms and rare lush bushes. The glowworms light the place up and you will feel as if you are in a magical world. You will also be learning a lot about the traditional weapons and tools used and the beautiful tattoo art of the Maori people. 

Watch the lifting of hangi during a feast:
Hangi is a traditional oven put beneath the soil which is used by the local Maori people to cook your meal. Embark on a Mitai Maori village tour and witness the lifting of hangi and feast of the delicious local food.

Self Drive: If you are driving to the Mitai Maori Village, please arrive 20 minutes prior to the start time of the show.
