Dhauladhar Range or the White Range is located on the southern region of outer Himalayan Peaks, rising to the north of Kangra and Mandi. Hanuman ji Ka Tibba is the highest mountain located in this peak at an altitude of 5639 meters. But this range is popular because of its differing topography. Though the major portions are composed of granite, the range presents the multiple formations of slate, limestone and sandstone often. Those who would like to do trekking at this range are supposed to have the perfect skills in trekking and mountaineering as the ranges extend the vertical incline until the top. It still remains tough to inhabit humans in large numbers but the surrounding meadows and forest range have plenty of admirers from all over the world.

Though Himachal Pradesh amuses the visitors with its abundant natural sights, Rewalsar Lake or Tso Pema Lotus Lake will be the biggest surprise to see because of its unusual shape itself. This square shaped lake mid-altitude lake is located in Mandi district, at a height of about 1360 meters above sea level. The sacred water in it, the woodlands and mountain peaks around have attributed more beauty to the spot and it has been an important destination for Hindus, Sikhs and Buddhists. The lake shares space with three Buddhist monasteries and three Hindu temples and another holy lake Kunt Bhyog lies above Rewalsar. Here, different types of festivities happen yearly; the Sisu Fair in February or March and Baisakhi festival are the important ones.

Sage Prashar is the reason Prashar Lake got its name ages ago. One visits this quintessential lake will be unknowingly directed to oblivion and for sure the serenity will let every visitor linger for more. Located in Mandi village, Himachal Pradesh, the iconic attraction apart from the lake is the three stories pagoda like temple structure near the lake. 2730 meters above the lake seats amidst the rejuvenating sets of nature’s miracles including the snow-clad peaks in the backdrop and River Beas flowing so fast through the valley down. One can get access to the lake through Drang. The age of temple lengthens back to 13th century and the lake has one more surprise within it that is a floating island. Though visitors are seen in plenty over here, no one could accurately fathom the depth the lake goes into, till date.

Rang Mahal, built by Raja Umed Singh in the 18th century, is one of the largest monuments located in Chamba region. The palace highlights the perfect blend of Mughal and British architecture and has strikingly designed high fort-like walls. When the monument was handed over to State Handicrafts Department, many changes were carried out in the architecture of building and the historical artifacts of the same are placed in Bhuri Singh Museum. Rang Mahal was not only built with the aim to provide king's abode but also to serve as the warehouse for treasure and grains.

In the present times, Rang Mahal has been completely taken over by the Himachal Government and serves as Himachal Emporium, a popular shopping destination for beautiful local handmade goods. You can also find embroidery in the emporium, made by local women on the silky fabrics.

You can visit Rang Mahal from Monday to Saturday and the timings include morning 10 AM to 1 PM and 2 PM to 5 PM.

Newly Added Mandi Experience
We were a group of 50 students who went on a trip booked through thrillophilia. We had two stops in our journey, Kullu, and Prashar Lake. Kullu: We reached Kullu after an overnight bus journey. There were 10 tents, each with clean attached bathrooms. The tents were in a secluded area by the riverside. The location was beautiful and private. We did river rafting (around 4 kms) and rope activities by the day time. Around the evening, we all enjoyed by the bonfire. You can also walk around the streets during the day, and get a feel of the place. All in all, it was a very memorable experience. Next morning, we left for Mandi in a bus, and then left for trekking to Prashar Lake. It was a picturesque 7 km trek, doable for beginners. The view was extremely scenic especially at the top. There were 14 tents for all us, and a sleeping bag for each (The temperature had really fallen due to a hailstorm). Tasty food was served by the lake . There was a great view of snow-clad mountains from the location. All in all, the place was very serene and beautiful. One drawback was, that there were just three dirty bathrooms for 50 people. This trip is very suitable for adventurous people wanting a break from the city life in a destination which is not overcrowded.

Prashar lake trek is a pretty jungle trail. It's perfect for the first timers as well as for pro's. I went in Nov, the sun was out and the views were fantastic. The view of Prashar lake is also serene. Do climb up the mound for the iconic view. The services at the camp site are also wonderful: fantastic food, courteous staff and warm tents. I would give an additional star to the organizer, Raj. When you are with him, you don't need to take any stress. He does out of his way to help you. You need any support, just call him!!

We booked it for a group of 40 students and Thrillophilia offered the best price and services as well. The campsite was big enough to accommodate the group and the tents were very comfortable for the stay. They provided us with tasty food and we even got to eat pasta there which we didn’t expect. There were four guides with us and all of them were friendly. We had a great experience there and Thanks to Thrillophilia for it.
