Best Time for a Thailand Tour Package from India

Soumya Sharma & Friends enjoyed an exciting swim at Phi Phi Island with our Bangkok Pattaya Phuket Tour with Phi Phi Island from India package (7D/6N).

Saying summer is the best time to visit Thailand is not accurate. India's summer (April-June) is actually Thailand's hottest period and the beginning of the monsoon season. Here is a month-by-month guide for Indian travellers planning a Thailand trip from India.

1. Cool and Dry Season: Peak Time (November to February)

  • Weather: 25-32Β°C, low humidity
  • Best for: Beaches, island hopping, sightseeing, outdoor activities; Tomorrowland Asia expected in December 2026
  • Not ideal for: Budget travel (Thailand package prices are at their highest)

2. Hot Season (March to May)

  • Weather: 33-42Β°C, high humidity
  • Best for: Songkran Festival in April; great energy across Bangkok, Chiang Mai, and Phuket
  • Not ideal for: Beach time in peak afternoon heat; temple visits after 10 AM

3. Monsoon / Green Season (May to October)

  • Weather: 28-35Β°C, frequent rain
  • Best for: Budget-friendly Thailand packages from India; waterfalls, greenery, and fewer crowds
  • Not ideal for: Phuket and Krabi (rough seas, limited island tours); Koh Samui (heavy rain from October-December)

4. For Indian Travellers: Specific Guidance

  • December-January: Best weather, peak season; book 3–4 months in advance
  • April: Very hot but popular due to Songkran; great for Bangkok and Chiang Mai
  • May-June: Budget-friendly Thailand packages available; island travel may be affected in Phuket and Krabi
  • October: Good value, improved weather in Bangkok and Chiang Mai; Koh Samui still rainy

5. Important Notes:

  • Phuket and Krabi: Expect rain and rough seas from May to October.
  • Koh Samui: Avoid October–December (separate rainy season from the Andaman coast).
  • Bangkok: April heat can exceed 40Β°C, making daytime sightseeing difficult.

Note: These recommendations are based on historical weather patterns, ferry operating schedules, traveller feedback, and seasonal booking trends observed across Thailand destinations.

Thailand tour packages cover a wide range of destinations, each offering a completely different experience. Here is what each major stop brings to your Thailand trip.

1. Bangkok: The Capital

Bangkok is where most Thailand tours begin, a high-energy mix of temples, markets, river life, and modern entertainment. The Grand Palace and Wat Pho are the non-negotiable sightseeing stops, while Chatuchak Weekend Market and Pratunam offer some of the best shopping on any Thailand trip from India.

Top places to visit:

  • The Grand Palace: Royal complex with detailed Thai architecture
  • Wat Pho: Home to the 46-metre Reclining Buddha and a traditional Thai massage school
  • Chatuchak Weekend Market: One of the largest markets in Asia
  • Safari World: Open zoo with animal shows
  • Pratunam Market: Budget shopping for clothes and accessories

Insider Tip: The Grand Palace can shut without notice for royal events. Go to Wat Pho first (same area, different entry, usually open).

2. Phuket: The Andaman Island

Phuket is the most popular beach destination on any Thailand vacation package from India. It is also the main base for Phi Phi Island day trips, James Bond Island excursions in Phang Nga Bay, and water sports at Patong Beach.

Top places to visit:

  • Patong Beach: Water sports and nightlife hub
  • Big Buddha: Hilltop statue with panoramic island views
  • Old Phuket Town: Colourful Sino-Portuguese streets and cafes
  • Wat Chalong: One of Phuket's most important temples
  • Phi Phi Islands: Top day-trip destination for snorkelling and swimming

Insider Tip: Phi Phi Island tours leave early at 7-8 AM. Book a speedboat tour over a ferry to save time and avoid heavy crowds.

3. Pattaya: Coastal City

Pattaya is a short drive from Bangkok and brings a very different energy to your Thailand trip with beaches, cultural shows, theme parks, and a lively nightlife. It pairs well with Bangkok on 5-day Thailand packages.

Top places to visit:

  • Sanctuary of Truth: An entirely hand-carved wooden temple
  • Walking Street: The main nightlife and entertainment strip
  • Coral Island (Koh Larn): Crystal-clear water and water sports
  • Nong Nooch Garden: Landscaped gardens with cultural shows
  • Pattaya Beach: Easy-access beach for casual activities

Insider Tip: Stay near Jomtien Beach instead of central Pattaya for a quieter environment with better hotel options.

4. Krabi: Limestone Cliffs and Islands

Krabi is quieter than Phuket and ideal for travellers who want dramatic scenery along with their beach time. It is a highlight of most 7-day and 9-day Thailand tour packages from India.

Top places to visit:

  • Railay Beach: Surrounded by limestone cliffs, accessible only by boat
  • Tiger Cave Temple: Approximately 1,260 steps leading to a panoramic summit view of Krabi.
  • Emerald Pool: A natural turquoise spring in the Khao Nor Chu Chi Forest
  • Phi Phi Islands: Accessible as a day trip from Krabi as well
  • Ao Thalane: Kayaking through mangrove channels

Insider Tip: Climb Tiger Cave Temple early in the morning to avoid both the heat and the crowds.

5. Chiang Mai: The North

Chiang Mai is a natural add-on for 10-day Thailand tour packages from India. Its focus on temples, nature, and traditional culture provides a complete contrast to Bangkok and the southern beaches.

Top places to visit:

  • Wat Phra That Doi Suthep: Temple on a forested hill overlooking the city
  • Doi Inthanon National Park: Thailand's highest peak
  • Night Bazaar: Evening market for food, crafts, and shopping
  • Wat Chedi Luang: Historic temple ruins in the Old City
  • Bua Thong Waterfalls: Sticky limestone waterfall you can climb

Insider Tip: Doi Inthanon is 2 hours from Chiang Mai, and temperatures can drop to 10-15Β°C. Carry a light jacket even during the summer months.

6. Koh Samui: Gulf Islands

Koh Samui is a popular extension for Thailand holiday packages, offering a slower resort pace on the Gulf of Thailand side, along with easy access to Koh Phangan and Ang Thong Marine Park.

Top places to visit:

  • Chaweng Beach: Main beach strip with hotels and restaurants
  • Big Buddha Temple: 12-metre seated statue near the coast
  • Ang Thong Marine Park: a 42-island national park for kayaking and viewpoints
  • Na Muang Waterfalls: Easy nature walk accessible from the main road
  • Koh Phangan: Famous for its Full Moon Party

Insider Tip: October to December is the rainy season for Koh Samui, unlike Phuket. Always check the weather before booking a Samui-focused Thailand tour package.

7. Ayutthaya: Ancient Capital

Ayutthaya is the easiest historical day trip from Bangkok on any Thailand travel package. Its UNESCO-listed ruins offer a rare look into the golden age of the ancient Siamese kingdom.

Top places to visit:

  • Wat Mahathat: Famous for the Buddha head entwined in tree roots
  • Wat Phra Si Sanphet: Former royal temple within the palace compound
  • Ayutthaya Historical Park: Over 400 temples across the island city
  • Chao Sam Phraya Museum: Artifacts from the Ayutthaya period
  • Bang Pa-In Palace: Summer palace featuring mixed European and Thai architecture

Insider Tip: Ayutthaya is 90 minutes from Bangkok by train (INR 150-INR 300). It makes for an easy day trip with no need to stay overnight.

Famous Food to Try on Your Thailand Trip

Ishita Sen explored Thailand's vibrant culinary delights with our Exotic Getaway to Phuket and Koh Samui package (5D/4N).

Thailand's street food culture is one of the most distinctive in the world. Here is what to eat on your Thailand tour, with notes for Indian vegetarian travellers.

1. Pad Thai

Stir-fried rice noodles with eggs, tofu or shrimp, tamarind sauce, lime, and peanuts. The definitive street food of any Thailand trip. Vegetarian note: Ask for "Jay Pad Thai" or the tofu version without fish sauce. Where to try: Street stalls in Bangkok, Chiang Mai, and Phuket.

2. Tom Yum Goong (Spicy Shrimp Soup)

Hot and sour broth with shrimp, lemongrass, kaffir lime leaves, chilli, and galangal. Vegetarian note: Non-vegetarian (shrimp-based). Where to try: Local restaurants in Bangkok, Krabi, and Koh Samui.

3. Gaeng Keow Wan (Green Curry)

Coconut-based curry with green curry paste, vegetables, and your choice of meat or tofu. Vegetarian note: Ask for the tofu version and no fish sauce. Where to try: Restaurants in Chiang Mai and Ayutthaya.

4. Som Tum (Green Papaya Salad)

Fresh shredded green papaya with tomatoes, peanuts, chilli, and a tangy lime dressing. Vegetarian note: Ask for "Jay Som Tum." Where to try: Local markets across Thailand, especially in Bangkok.

5. Khao Niew Mamuang (Mango Sticky Rice)

Sweet sticky rice with fresh mango and coconut milk β€” fully vegetarian and one of the best desserts in Southeast Asia. Where to try: Street stalls across Thailand, especially in Chiang Mai.

Vegetarian Food in Thailand: The Jay (ΰΉ€ΰΈˆ) System

  • Thailand has a dedicated vegetarian food system called Jay (ΰΉ€ΰΈˆ), identifiable by yellow flags or signs displayed at food stalls and restaurants across the country.
  • Jay food is stricter than standard vegetarian, it contains no meat, no fish sauce, and no eggs.
  • The easiest places to find Jay food are Bangkok's Chinatown (Yaowarat) and areas near temples across Thailand.
  • During the 9-day Jay Festival in October, yellow-flag stalls are set up city-wide, making it one of the best times for vegetarian Indian travellers visiting Thailand on a package tour.

India-Specific Thailand Planning Guide

Before booking a Thailand tour package, it is useful to know a few practical travel tips that can make your trip smoother and more enjoyable.

  • Currency: Thailand uses the Thai Baht (THB), with 1 THB approximately equal to INR 2.5 (as of April 2026). While cards are accepted in most malls, hotels, and restaurants, carrying cash is recommended for local markets and street vendors. Many travellers prefer using Superrich exchange counters in Bangkok for competitive exchange rates.
  • SIM Card: Tourist SIM cards from AIS and DTAC are available at Bangkok and Phuket airports. A 7-day unlimited data package generally starts from around INR 500, making it significantly cheaper than international roaming plans from Indian operators.
  • Tourist Entry Fee: Thailand has proposed a tourist entry fee of 300 THB (approximately INR 740), but it has not been implemented. Therefore, this fee is generally not included in any Thailand tour package.
  • Vegetarian Food: Vegetarian travellers can easily find food by looking for the yellow Jay (ΰΉ€ΰΈˆ) signs, which indicate vegetarian and vegan restaurants. These eateries are especially common near temples and in Bangkok’s Chinatown.
  • Indian Restaurants: Authentic Indian food is widely available across Thailand. Popular areas include Sukhumvit Soi 3 in Bangkok, Nimman Road in Chiang Mai, and Patong Beach in Phuket.
  • Language: Thai is the official language, but English is commonly spoken in major tourist destinations. Learning a few simple phrases, such as "Sawasdee" (Hello) and "Khop Khun" (Thank You) can be helpful during your trip.
  • Visa for Indians: One of the biggest advantages of booking a Thailand tour package is the visa-free entry facility for Indian travellers.Indian passport holders can enjoy visa-free entry for tourism purposes for stays of up to 30–60 days, subject to government regulations and future updates.
  • Royal Family Laws: Thailand has strict laws protecting its royal family. Travellers should avoid making negative comments or jokes about the monarchy in public spaces or on social media, as violations can lead to serious legal consequences.

Practical Tips for a Seamless Thailand Tour

  • Plan your Thailand tour package between November and February for the best weather (25-32Β°C) and calm seas
  • Arrive at the Grand Palace by 9 AM to get ahead of crowds and the midday heat
  • Book Thailand packages from India with flights at least 4-6 weeks in advance; December-January seats fill up fast
  • Avoid driving inside Bangkok's old areas; tuk-tuks, the BTS Skytrain, and the MRT metro are far more efficient
  • Book the Phi Phi Island speedboat tour in advance from your Thailand travel package; slots fill quickly in peak season
  • For Chiang Mai trips, carry a light jacket even in summer, evenings can drop to 10-15Β°C between November and February
  • Temple dress code is strictly enforced; shoulders and knees must be covered, and carry a light scarf
  • Remove shoes before entering temples and many local shops; slip-ons make this much easier
  • Avoid touching anyone's head or pointing feet toward religious objects, monks, or Buddha images
  • Possession of e-cigarettes or illegal drugs carries severe penalties, including imprisonment, these laws are actively enforced on tourists

Safety Advisory for Thailand

  • Evenings in northern Thailand (Chiang Mai, Pai, Chiang Rai) drop to 10-15Β°C between November and February, carry a light jacket
  • Coastal areas (Phuket, Krabi, Pattaya) can have strong evening winds in the cool season; carry a light layer for sunset boat rides
  • Helmets are mandatory by law for scooter riders in Thailand. Police issue on-the-spot fines to tourists. An International Driving Permit is required, an Indian licence alone is not sufficient
  • Electricity outages occur on islands like Koh Tao, Koh Phangan, and Koh Lanta during storms, carry a power bank
  • Thailand enforces strict laws against possession of e-cigarettes, vaping devices, and all illegal drugs, including confiscation, heavy fines, and imprisonment

I booked 7N8D trip to Thailand in June'22, with Thrillophilia for the very first time. I requested for customized itinerary, and Apeksha (my first contact from the team) has been great sharing the same. She very well explained all the tourist spots that i can explore and adhered to my requirements and included all the sightseeing and activities that i was looking for. Pranjul, (my 2nd contact) has been amazing too, she handled all my queries excellently and has been very responsive to each of my texts/calls. She took care of my hotel preferences well. Also, Tanvi (my 3rd contact) has been great assisting me while i was stuck in Visa on arrival process (minor hiccup i would say) she very well coordinated each and every thing in the tour. I am very satisfied with hotel options Thrillophilia has provided. The location of Mike beach resort Pattaya, is fabulous. its just 3mins walk to pattaya beach, the only negative point was there is no room service for food, rest everything was great-rooms, food, pool. Thanks to Pranjul for this recommendation. Our next accommodation was Furama in Bangkok (my choice). Here the hotel rooms are spacious, food is great but rooms doesn't have balcony and also washrooms (have glass walls, no curtain or blinds) could be an issue to travelers. The last accommodation in Phuket was Deevana Patong resort. This is a great property to stay. Amazing rooms, food, and pools. Absolute delight to eyes. Additionally, the vehicles provided for sightseeing, intercity, airport pick-drop transfers were great. all in all, me and my parents had great time because of the excellent team. Amazing team, very responsiveness, patient with queries and understands the requirements. The ground team too was excellent at their job. we had to not reach out to anyone or follow up for any activities/sightseeing or anything for that matter. it was all taken care by the team. we got timely updates/information about next activities. i look forward to booking another trip with Thrillophilia soon

We recently booked our Krabi and Phuket family trip through Thrillophilia, and it turned out to be one of the best vacation experiences we’ve ever had. From the moment we landed, everything was handled with absolute professionalism. The airport transfers were seamless, and the local coordinators were always just a call away, ensuring our itinerary flowed smoothly without a single hiccup. The hotels selected for us in both Krabi and Phuket offered fantastic amenities, great locations, and warm hospitality that made us feel right at home. We loved exploring the stunning islands, enjoying the pristine beaches, and diving into the vibrant local culture. The island-hopping tours and adventure activities were well-organized, safe, and tailored perfectly for a family group. Booking through Thrillophilia took away all the stress of planning and allowed us to focus entirely on making memories. Everything was transparent, well-timed, and exceeded our expectations. Highly recommended for anyone looking to experience Thailand without any travel hassles!

"First, I would like to thank the entire team at Thrillophilia who helped me with my specific requirements. I am especially grateful to Himanshu for his proper planning. Even when I was busy with other work, he always provided all the details whenever I asked. He truly understood my situation and planned everything perfectly. My only challenges were with the eSIM, which does not work on all Android phones, and the fact that my parents only speak our mother tongue, Kannada. However, I managed to handle that, and everything else went exceptionally well. My parents felt great, and I am very happy with the service!"

An Unforgettable First International Trip! Highly Recommended. We recently booked our very first international vacation through Thrillophilia, and it was an absolutely amazing experience for me, my wife, and my son. Planning a first trip abroad can feel overwhelming, but Thrillophilia made it entirely seamless and stress-free. The itineraries provided were top-notch and perfectly curated for a family. What truly set this experience apart was their exceptional on-ground staff support in a foreign country. We felt completely safe and taken care of at every step. A special, heartfelt shoutout to Rohan, who was our guiding light throughout the journey. Rohan provided incredible guidance at every single point. Whether it was a quick query, a local coordination, or just checking in to see if my family was comfortable, he was always there. His proactive support and dedication made a massive difference to our holiday. If you are planning a family holidayβ€”especially your first international oneβ€”Thrillophilia is highly recommended. Kudos to the team and Rohan for making our family memories so special!
