The Surkanda Devi Trek is the most attainable feat for beginners who would like to give this sporting activity a try. A short trudge concluding in a few hours, you do not need any equipment or special skill to enjoy a thrilling experience.

One can plan to visit Kaddukhal, the starting point of the Surkanda Devi Trek from Mussoorie, Dehradun, Chamba, Dhaulanti etc. for a day and indulge themselves in the enchanting assortments of the natural beauty. There are two available trails, one starts in Kanatal at about 11 kilometres, and the other is just 2-3 kilometres long, in Kaddukhal. The one offered in this trip is the latter where you would have to climb through steep stairs cut out in the hill on which the Surkanda Devi Temple is stationed.

This can take you around 1 to 2 hours on an average, for one way and about 4 hours in total. From the pinnacle and even along the way, you are proposed by the sights of snow-covered Himalayan mountains, lush valleys and other wild flora and fauna of the region.

Know Before You Go for Surkanda Devi Trek

  • Depending on the season you are visiting Surkanda Devi Temple or the nearby places, carry adequate layers of warm clothing, especially during the fall and winter months between October and March.
  • Even though the trek is short, do carry a light backpack with all the necessary items and a reusable water bottle.
  • Wear a comfortable pair of shoes, preferably sneakers or other sports shoes.
  • Do not litter on the trek or in the temple premises.
