Every one has their own story, this story is about me and friends, thought i was able to complete my complete trek, but yet its has a wonderful experie...
Upon your arrival in Dehradun, drive along the scenic vicinity of Mussorrie and the stunning Yamuna River to reach Sankari; have your lunch during the route.
All through this long journey, the pictorial pine forests, snow-clad peaks and the scenic views will keep you engrossed with fun and excitement.
Post arrival in Sankari, check-in into the hotel and relax for the day.
As the temperature during the trek might get to the minimum level, it is also important to get acclimatised with the atmosphere; overnight stay in the hotel.
Today will be the first day of the winter trek to Kedarkantha!
After having a delicious breakfast in the hotel, begin with a slow and gradual hike to the Saur Village, from where the trek will continue trailing upwards.
Climbing uphill from Saur hamlet, reach the Juda-ka-Talab, a small yet quintessential pond that freezes completely during the winters.
From the banks of the lake, you can also enjoy the panoramic views of the snow-clad peak of the mighty Himalayan range and continue hiking through the scenic locales and arrive at the campsite called Shepherd Camp.
The camp is called such as when the meadows flourishes during the summers, the local shepherds use them as a grazing ground for their sheep; overnight stay in tents.
Today's trek will take you through a magnificent trail that leads to Kedarkantha!
After having breakfast in the Shepherd Camp, begin with the day's trek through lush snow-fields with sparse green patches between them.
The charm and allurement of this trail is truly a delight for the shutterbugs.
Traversing through the snow-covered vicinity; you will reach a campsite at the base of Kedarkantha that is fringed with snow-clad trees and offers stunning views of Swargarohini, Bandarpoonch and Kalanag peaks.
Check-in into the campsite and retire for the day; overnight stay will be in tents.
Waking up today morning, prepare yourself for an exhausting trek to Kedarkantha summit.
Though today's trek won't be a long one, it requires time, energy and the spirit to ascend forward.
Starting early morning from the basecamp, trek over the hard blanket of snow and after 4-5 hours, you will reach the Kedarkantha Peak.
Enjoy awe-inspiring views from the peak; witness panoramic views of the Yumnotri, Gangotri, Kinner Kailash and other Himalayan Ranges.
Spend pleasant and overwhelming moments at the summit before embarking on the back trek to the basecamp; overnight stay in tents.
Today will be the last day of this astounding snow trekking to Kedarkantha.
After having breakfast at the campsite, start with the down trek to Sankri.
Though the trek will be comparatively easier, one needs to be careful as the descending slopes also offer slippery trails at times.
On arrival in Sankri, check-in into a cosy hotel and enjoy the day with scenic views all around; overnight stay at the hotel.
Post today's breakfast in the hotel, you will be driven back to Dehradun.
With your arrival in Dehradun, this stunning snow trek to Kedarkantha expedition will come to an end.

Every one has their own story, this story is about me and friends, thought i was able to complete my complete trek, but yet its has a wonderful experience we had, full of joy, the first time being in tent was difficult to deal with, but the nature, its beauty its attractiveness site bound me to fall in love with it. We are unable to explain this in my words but its awesome. But one thing I would request to do give clear presentation of the person coming back or stuck with the half trek, that was a mess apart from it this was the best feeling ever .

I just completed my kedarkantha trekk a few days bck. Overall it was one of the most memorable treks I have been on. The views from the base camp and the summit were simply amazing. Our trekk leaders mr. Pramod rana and ms. Neelam were very helpful and took great care of us. The only issue I had was that there weren't sufficient number of tents for toilets according to the number of people in the group. Rest everything was good.

Just loved the trek to the fullest. The extreme cold of winter can be best felt at this trek. The trail is completely covered with snow and makes it really difficult to go for the summit walk but once you reach the summit it rewards you with the best mountain views.

Well done team, we get exactly as the itinerary planned by you, no-rush, and no-issues at all the entire trip.
Kedarkantha peak winter trek is a great trek to do in winters during the month of October to December & in May also. During this time you can see the clear view of the region and snow filled campsites. Each campsite turns into a fairyland in the snow. During the springtime too this trek can be done as the forests come alive in this season, and the snow stays in parts all the way until April.
This trek begins easy but gets moderately difficult with every passing day. It makes a lot of sense to spend some time before coming on a trekking holiday getting some additional exercise. The fitter you are, after all, the more enjoyable you will find the experience. For this trip you need to be aerobically fit and also comfortable with walking up to 7 hours on some days.
The following checklist should help you with your packing:
- As a general rule, you should always try to keep the weight of your equipment to a minimum.
- Hiking boots
- Trainers or sandals for river crossings and camp use
- Walking socks (3 pairs)
- Spare laces
- Trekking trousers
- Waterproof overtrousers
- Underwear
- Thermal base layer - leggings
- Baselayer shirts (short sleeve and 1 long sleeve) or T-shirts
- Fleece jacket or warm jumper
- Waterproof jacket
- Sunhat and Warm hat
- Sunglasses
- Gloves or mittens
- Daypack 30 litres
- Sun protection (including total bloc for lips, nose etc.)
- Headtorch and spare batteries
- Water bottles 1 litre (x2)
- Sleeping bag (comfort rated -10ºC) (minus 15ºC for late November and December trips)
- Washbag and toiletries
- Antibacterial handwash
-Small towel
- Basic First Aid Kit including antiseptic cream, throat lozenges, diarrhoea treatment (Imodium), altitude (Diamox), painkillers, plasters and blister treatment, and re-hydration salts (Dioralite).
- Small padlock
You should carry high-ankle trekking shoes. Different shoes are suitable for different kinds of treks, depending on the weather, trail condition as well as duration of the trek. For this particular trek, shoes with thick souls are recommended.
There are proper meals with subsequent nutritional values planned for the people coming in for the trek. All meals will be provided. This would include nutritional vegetarian meals, with the addition of tea and coffee during breaks.
Carrying medicines is important while trekking anywhere in the world. Your first-aid should have anti-diarrhea medicine such as loperamide but make sure that you don't take it unless getting to a toilet isn't an option. During the trek you may not have access to pharmacies. So it’s better to have medications ready. Yes, you can carry diamox and can be taken too if having sickness/nausea.
Indian mobile networks do not work for most part of this trek. Vodafone and BSNL are the only mobile networks that work in patches along the way (but are inconsistent).
When it comes to trekking in India in winter, the Kedarkantha trek would be your best bet. From December to April, Kedarkantha makes for a terrific trek in virgin snow, with pretty campsites and astonishingly wide clearings in the forests.
You are likely to come across snow just as you cross the 10,000 ft mark, lying on the forest floor among the pine trees. When you reach the meadows, a huge blanket of white is likely to surround you in every direction.
The average temperature in the day time will be 8°C to 15°C and in the night time it will fall to -5°C to 3°C.
