Visit the London Museum of Water & Steam located in one of the significant historical buildings of the former Kew Bridge Waterworks and get insights into the water supply of the city. Learn about the machinery and the development of the technology and methods used. Take a tour and see all the collections and then you can grab a cup of tea/ coffee at a cafe operated by Our Barn Community.
About the Activity:
- Explore the collections including stationary steam pumping engines, rotative engines, narrow-gauge steam locomotives, and the Waterworks gallery.
- Witness 4 installations Cornish Engine, Allen Diesel engine, Hindley Waterwheel, and Steam Fire Engine depicting advancements in steam engine technology.
- You get to see the diesel/ electric/ water/ animal-powered pumping engines.
- Do not forget to visit the original workshops dating back to 1838 and preserves the leather belts, pulleys, and shafts of the machinery.
- Have some snacks and delicious cakes along with your favorite tea/ coffee at the in-house Pump & Grind Cafe.
