About the Activity:

  • Take a road trip to Leh which draws the picture of the valleys and the snow-clad peaks very well. Here is a 12 day trip to Leh from Delhi.
  • For the first part of the road trip, you will get a ride in a comfortable bus from Delhi to Manali.
  • Spend a day exploring Manali and get acclimatized to the higher altitudes.
  • From Manali the real road trip begins! Drive towards Leh and camp out in Jispa, trek through the beautiful mountains and stay with the Ladakhis in their quaint villages, gaze at the magnificent beauty of Yuretse a.k.a “One Home Village” and visit the Hemis National Park to while you trek to Markha Valley.
  • Walk through Gandha La, which is pass at the height of 4900 Mts, engage in an exciting rafting in Zanskar and witness the relishing charm of Pangong and Hunder, Nubra Valley and the relative sites and monasteries.
  • You can opt to extend your trip by a day and complete the circuit by driving from Leh to Srinagar, stopping over at Mulbekh / Kargil for the night.

Itinerary

  • Day 1 - Delhi to Manali.

    Take an overnight journey to Manali by bus from Delhi.

    Distance: 550 Km

    Drive Time: 12- 14 Hours

    Upon arrival in Manali, check-in to the Boutique guesthouse and relax.

  • Day 2 - Sightseeing in Manali

    In the morning, head out to explore the major attractions in Manali.

  • Day 3 - To Jispa

    In the morning, get a drive along the Rohtang Pass and Keylong and reach Jispa.

    You will stay in a luxury tent there.

    Distance: 140 Km.

    Drive Time: 5 - 6 Hours.

  • Day 4 - Jispa to Leh

    Early morning, embark on a drive to Leh from Jispa. Cross the famous Pang, Sarchu and the high altitude passes like Bara Lacha la and Tangang la.

    Stay overnight in Leh.

    Indulge in a rafting expedition in Zanskar today.

    Distance: 340 Km.

    Drive Time: 12 Hours.

  • Day 5 - Sightseeing in Leh

    Spend the day to explore the beautiful Leh.

    Go for a special heritage walk with Leh Old Town Initiative (LOTI).

    Stay overnight stay in Leh in a luxury home stay.

  • Day 6 - Markha Trek Day 1

    Begin your drive from Leg to Zingchen which will be followed by a trek to Yurutse.

    On the way get a fabulous view of snow-capped Stok Mountains; visit the centre of Snow Leopards as you enter Hemis National Park to reach Yurutse- the One Home Village.

    Stay overnight in tents near a One Home Village home stay.

    Drive Time: 1 Hour.

    Trek Time: 4 Hours.

  • Day 7 - Markha Trek Day 2:

    Travel to Skiu from Yurutse via Gandha La.

    Watch the mind blowing sights of blue sheep, marmots, Arghali etc roaming around the hills.

    Stay overnight in the tents at Skiu.

    Trek time: 9 Hours

  • Day 8 - Rafting in Zanskar

    Start with the last leg of the trek after which a car will be waiting to take you to Chiling for Rafting in the Zanskar from Chiling to Nemo.

    Stay overnight in Leh in a luxury home stay.

    Trek time: 3 Hours.

    Drive to Chiling: ½ Hour

    Rafting time: 1½ Hour.

  • Day 9 - Drive to Pangong Lake

    Today, you will be taken to Pangong Tso, the famous colour changing high altitude lake, India's pride.

    Visit few monasteries en-route.

    Stay in luxury tents at Pangong.

    Distance: 160 Km.

    Drive Time: 4 Hours.

  • Day 10 - Pangong Lake to Nubra Valley.

    Proceed to Nubra Valley in the morning.

    En route, visit Diksit Monastery and the famed 100 feet Buddha statue.

    Head to the Sand Dunes for camel ride and watch sunset from here.

    Stay in luxury tents at Hunder.

    Distance: 140 Kms.

    Drive time: 3 hours.

  • Day 11 - Nubra Valley to Leh via Khardong La

    Get a drive from Nubra Valley to Khardong La.

    Cycle down 40 Km from the world’s highest motorable road all the way to Leh.

    Spend the last night in Leh with a lovely dinner at the one a fancy local restaurant.

    Distance to Khardong La: 80 Km - Drive Time: 2.5 Hours

    Cycling Route Distance: 40 Km - Ride Time: 2 Hours.

  • Day 12 - Leh to Mulbekh

    Post breakfast, we head to the airport and bid goodbye to Ladakh.

    1. Do we have to get to Delhi by ourselves?

      Yes. Delhi would be the common meeting point. Our journey will commence from the capital but getting here will be your responsibility. Everything else post that will be taken care of by us.

    2. Where will we be staying?

      We will be supporting the locals and sharing experiences with them. We will be staying in different homestays and camps throughout the journey.

    3. What will be the mode of our transport?

      We will be using a tempo traveler which is the largest capacity of minibus available. In Ladakh, the transport options are very limited- either it’s an Innova or Scorpio or Tempo Traveller. We use a Tempo Traveller as it allows the entire group to travel together. It may not be the most comfortable drive in the world, but it’s the only horse that piles on that route. What we do for longer journeys is that we rotate the spots on the bus so that everyone gets the same experience. And yes, there will be plenty of stops for loo breaks and pictures.

    4. What is the difficulty level of rafting?

      Rafting will take place through Grad I and Grade II rapids. Professional guides will accompany us and you will be provided with all the necessary safety equipment from helmets to wet suits to life jackets.

    5. What kind of cycles will we be using from K-Top to Leh?

      We will be using professional mountain bikes by brands like Firefox. A safety vehicle will accompany us during this 3 hour cycle ride. So in case you want to opt out, you could hop into the safety

    6. How many people will be on the trip?
