Women Only Tour To Iceland

Itinerary

• Day 1 -

  Upon arrival at the Keflavik International Airport, get transferred to the hotel. Check-in and unwind.

  The remainder of the day is yours to explore the city at your leisure.

  Visit half-submerged Reykjavík City Hall where, there’s an enormous 3-D map of Iceland which took four men 4 years to construct.

  In the afternoon have your lunch and head to a local restaurant for fresh locally caught fish and chips, or grab a lobster soup.

  If you’re brave enough, try the fermented shark for a truly taste of local Icelandic food.

  After lunch, visit Reykjavik Art Museum and get acquainted with Iceland’s famous postmodern artist Erró, among others.

  If you are looking for shopping head to downtown Reykjavik around Laugavegur and bob in and out of independent boutiques selling a wide range of locally produced goods.

  In the evening have your dinner at a local restaurant with the crew to know eachother better.

• Day 2 -

  Today after breakfast visit some of the most spectacular natural marvels of the world on a guided bus tour around the classic “Golden Circle” route in South Iceland.

  The highlights of our route will be Þingvellir National Park which is surrounded by mountains and encompasses a vast lava plain of green moss and wildflowers, it’s a UNESCO World heritage site as well as a filming location for ‘Game Of Thrones.

  After that visit Gullfoss waterfall, where the Hvita River drops 96 feet in two voluminous cascades followed by the visit to two geysers - aptly named but unreliable Geysir and then Strokkur which erupts water to heights of up to 20 metres every 4-8 minutes.

  After that return to Reykjavik, and visit the Skálholt church, the ancient seat of the Icelandic bishops, and stop by Hveragerði, the hot spring capital of the world.

  In the evening if weather conditions allow, set out for a glimpse of the Northern Lights. Visibility can’t be guaranteed

  After that, have your dinner and drinks (on your own).

  Note: If we are unable to head out to see the Northern Lights, you’ll enjoy free time in the evening.

• Day 3 -

  This morning, take a city tour of the greater Reykjavík area with a local guide, and take in all the sights.

  On route visit the Presidential Residence at Bessastaðir, the Hallgrímskirkja church (head to the top of the tower for a bird’s-eye view of the city’s colorful rooftops), and Perlan (‘The Pearl’) which is one of Reykjavik's most famous buildings. Built above a geothermal spring, it supplies much of the city’s hot water. It is also topped by a huge glass dome, out of which you’ll see a sweeping 360-degree panorama of Reykjavik, deep-blue ocean and volcanic mountains.

  Also visit Hafnafjörður, a fishing town and home to a population of around 26,500 people and an undisclosed number of elves or ‘hidden people.’

  In the afternoon, get picked up and drive in a private coach to the Blue Lagoon. When it comes to unwinding in Reykjavík, nothing beats a long hot soak in this world-famous, bright blue natural geothermal spa.

• Day 4 -

  After breakfast at the hotel, set off on a touralong the southern coast of Iceland all the way to the village of Vík and back.

  Along the way see the 40m high Seljalandsfoss waterfall. If it’s a sunny day, rainbows form through the mist clouds that rise above the gushing water, creating an Instagram-worthy shot. There’s also a pathway leading behind the waterfall so get the chance to see Seljalandsfoss from a rare perspective; there's no better way to get close to the raw power of Icelandic nature.

  At Vík, Iceland’s southernmost village, get black volcanic sand in between your toes at the beach and marvel at the dramatic Dyrhólaey and Reynisdrangar rock formations out at sea.

  The last stop before heading back to Reykjavik is the graceful, 60 meters high Skógafoss waterfall.

  In the evening have your dinner and return to hotel.

• Day 5 -

  Today is a free day and spend it at leisure.

  Although here are some recommendations to spend the day:

  If you feel like an adrenaline adventure, head to the Silfra frissure in Lake Þingvellir where dive into the crack between the North American and Eurasian continental tectonic plates.

  After lunch, a stroll around the Tjörnin Lake with its 40 species of birds is always pleasant, or go on a whale watching tour from the city's old harbor or even horseback riding if you’d like.

  At some point, yearn for some Icelandic knitwear. Ladies, you can pick up a knit hat, scarf, or warm lopapeysa jumpers at The Handknitting Association.

  In the early evening, go dog sledding and experience the thrill of mushing your own husky sled team.

  In the evening during dinner celebrate our last day in Iceland with a great group dinner at a local restaurant.

• Day 6 -

  It’s time to head home.

  Check out and make your own way to the airport to board your flight home.
