Return to your hotel and have lunch followed by your travel to Uttarey.
For eight days you will thread your way up and over the highest reaches of the Singalila Ridge, which forms the border between Sikkim and Nepal.
You might meet the occasional yak herder on the way.
The names given to places around here however exotic it may sound to your ear are basically associated with their purpose, such as high pastures, passes and ridge points.
Pass through a rich forest cover, swathes of rhododendrons, open ridges, sacred lakes and remote passes.
Reach Chiwa Bhanjyang (3,100 m) after covering an easy trail that rises gently through rainforest until a final steep ascent for the last couple of hours brings you to the Nepalese border and that is your first camp
Trek - 5½ hours.
This is an attractive setting to acquire some essential early acclimatization.
A hike to the nearby Singalila Peak at 3500m will give you valuable acclimatization and some excellent views.
A gentle uphill traverse through forest and then over a more exposed hillside will let you reach a point where prayer flags are found along with the distinct views of the lofty towers in the background.
The occasional yak herder’s hut is the only sign of habitation as you look down far below to the rice fields and cardamom plantations.
You will be staying in a remote campsite amidst pure nature.
Rising just before dawn, a five-minute walk onto the ridge may reveal the spectacular sight of sunrise on both Everest and Kanchenjunga.
The whole day, you will be descending and climbing to have a steady progress of altitude spiraling from one side of the ridge to the other until a rough steep ascent takes us across a pass.
Beyond, the trail wends its way steadily through rhododendrons and past several Hindu shrines where a second easier pass drops down to our camp close to a shepherd’s summer settlement.
Get a chance to spot the blue sheep down the mountain side.
Continue walking on a good trail through woods until you begin a steady rise up a broad valley where you will be able to catch the first closer view of the entire Kabru range dominated by Mount Pandim (6,691m).
A further 2 hours of ascent will take you to the campsite near the Everest and a host of other Khumbu giants dominating the distant skyline.
An afternoon of rest and acclimatization for the following day’s foot slogging.
You are reached the high mountain country and the forests lie far below.
You have crossed the Lam Pokhari, which marks your entry back into Sikkim after two days of your walk along the Nepal border.
A little snow underfoot can be expected as you climb to the first pass, the Danphe Bhir La at 4,530 meters, the Pass of the Pheasant.
From here it is possible to see the whole of Sikkim with the view stretching out well into Tibet and Bhutan.
A further hour’s contouring and a small ascent reveals the KagBhir La (the Pass of the Crow) where you might get enough time and space to view a panorama of Himalayan peaks including Khangchendzonga.
Walk down the hill to reach the base camp near to the river for your stay overnight.
Leave your lovely meadow camp to climb through forests of sweet smelling silver fir and rhododendrons.
Soon you will reach the high mountain terrain again. Look out for the brightly colored Danphe birds (Impeyan Pheasant), which nest in the high crags around the Kamsey La, 4,200 m.
Walk down to the meadows of Kok ling and watch the next pass located at a height of 4,300 meters where you can reach after a steady ascent up a steep crag to a skyline dominated by the dizzying pinnacles and icy cliffs of Kanchenjunga.
Once again you will end the day with a steep descent to the campsite by the Tikip Chu, which has its source high on the Rathong mountains (6,679 m.)
Today your route joins the regular trail up to the Goecha La.
A steady climb through ancient fir forest, juniper and rhododendrons gradually opens out to the summer pastures of Dzongri.
Another high camp, but you should get acclimatized by now probably.
Sri Khola, Dense Forests, Orchid Plantations, Colourful Birds
Down the hill to Kokchulang where you are likely to accost other trekkers making us look back in retrospect towards really appreciating the peace and solitude of our last few days.
Move easily up to the valley passing the busy trekkers campsite of Thangsing to our own riverside camp a short distance below the Samiti Lake.
Aim for the Goecha La (The Locked Gate), which lies at almost 5000m, and begin well before sunrise in the clear cold morning air.
Around us is an awe-inspiring Himalayan landscape of tumbling glaciers, pinnacles ridges and soaring peaks dominated by the mighty bulk of Kanchenjunga towering above, but the view from our own ‘summit’ is equally stunning.
Return to your high camp for a welcome breakfast. Thereafter, head down to Thangsing where the air feels wonderfully rich at just 3,600 m.
A long day of around 10 hours depending of course on how much time you spend at Goecha La.
Lampokhari which means long lake gives you an important trek which has a gradual up hill walk and after there back down to Kokchurung which it takes altogether 5-6 hour.
On new ground today, follow the traditional route back to the main valley.
Tshoka is an enchanting little Tibetan settlement perched on a mountain spur. It will be your first encounter on this trek with permanent village life, and the novelty of having a roof over your heads will add a new dimension to the journey.
Descend through rainforest rich with bird-life and flowers, across spectacular bridges spanning cascading rivers whose sources are high in the mountains you have already witnessed.
Tired and elated you will arrive in Yuksom and later check into your hotel and relax.
This will be your last evening with the trekking crew so you are getting an option to celebrate the last day with the team mates.
Get a leisure day at Yuksom and spend the time according to your wish.
Wake up early in the morning have some tea or breakfast and then get a drive to Bagdogra for your return journey.

The Singalila Trek by Thrillophilia had everything that I wanted from a trek .From adventurous forest trails to sights of the Everest, this trek was the most enjoyable experience of my entire life. The support staff, guide and even the whole organised process of the trek was all due to Thrillophilia and their committed people for which I wanted to personally thank them by writing my thrillophilia reviews. They even made sure that the group was having fun during the strenuous ascents and descents, which not many people think of. Thrillophilia even customised the booking process according to our convenience, and did everything on our behalf. With this trekking tour by Thrillophilia, I am happy to say that they have gained a permanent customer who will be coming back for their help pretty soon.

For me, this was a treasure trove journey. Though Sandakpu is the main attraction, I also enjoyed the panorama of the other peaks and the evergreen valleys. Terrains might get difficult at times and to overcome them, you have to be quite careful and attentive towards the guides and instructors. Do not miss the sunrise view over the Kanchenjunga Peak at any cost.

I am an ardent lover of trekking and other adventure sports and activities. Thanks to Thrillophilia, I found a trekking tour to Singalila at the cheapest price ever, that too with the inclusion of permits as well as a guide. This year, my wish to complete the Singalila national park Trek came true only because of Thrillophilia. Everything, right from the booking procedure, to the mode of payment was easy and without any issues. In fact, they made sure that everything was taken care of even during the trek. Upon my arrival at home after the trek, Thrillophilia even made sure to ask for any issues that I might have faced during the Singalila Trek, which is commendable. Thank you for such a memorable trek.
