About the Dainkund:

Rested at an altitude of 2755 meters, Dainkund peak is the highest peak in Dalhousie which offers a complete 360° view of the entire valley. Dainkund is also known as the singing peak because the trees produce melodious sounds – as winds blow past the woods, ruffling the perennial leaves of the numerous pine, oak and deodar trees. It is a high-end hill that is mounted with a temple and picturesque location, having scenic views all around. About the Dainkund Trek:

Dainkund peak is a 5km trek starting from Dainkund basecamp which is Lakkadmandi. Start the trek at 10.00 am in the morning after meeting the guide at the Lakkadmandi, the reporting point for the trek. The Dainkund trek with an experienced English speaking trekking guide will make your journey more convenient and informative.

You will be given the packed lunch for the trekking. The route to the peak is covered with a dense forest of fir and deodars. The woods, gently squeeze the trail and there will be times when you will be walking over, or between fallen trees. Reach the ridge at the end of the forest from where it's a one and a half kilometer stretch to the peak.

After reaching the top, visit Pholani Mata Temple and stay here for a few hours and relax with the scenery. Enjoy the landscape views around while moving forward and click hundreds of pictures while enjoying the 360-degree view of Dalhousie ad snow-clad peak of Dhauladhar.

After soaking in the views, start walking down to the endpoint. The trail ends at a bifurcation near the Dainkund viewpoint. The whole trekking journey would be ending at around 5 PM.

How to reach Dainkund Trek basecamp? 

Lakkadmandi (Dainkund basecamp) is 8 km away from Dalhousie bus stand. One can reach here easily by public or private transport.

Know Before You Go for Dainkund Trek

  • Climatic conditions in the high altitudes vary from the plains; take adequate time to get acclimatized to high altitudes.
  • The management reserves all the right to modify the trek during any emergencies or natural calamities.
  • Consult a physician before undertaking the trek. Carry basic medications and a first-aid kit during the trek.
  • Pay heed to the trek guides and instructors in order to enjoy a safe and sound trek.
  • The trek takes place through an eco-friendly zone; do not encourage littering the local sites or campsites. Travelers littering may be fined.
  • Water is very precious, so conservation is appreciated.
  • Do not encourage trekking during the night unless it is a part of the itinerary and a guide is with you; this might lead to unforeseen mishaps.
  • Avoid using earphones during the trek; this might hinder your audibility.
  • Avoid using plastic bags and maintain the ecological balance of the destinations.
  • In case, the trek needs to be canceled, the authorities should be informed beforehand.
  • Guidelines issued by the State-Government are to be followed. Social distancing to be maintained. Frequent hand sanitization and use of masks is recommended.
  • Please provide a valid ID at the time of check-in.

  • Neat and clean vehicle for the journey with experienced drivers especially for hilly terrains available.
  • Camping is very basic in nature. One must not expect luxuries. Electricity may be available only at a few locations.
  • Mobile & laptop charging points may/may not be available on campsites at a common point.
  • Any personal expenses, items of personal nature, meals not mentioned, etc. will not be in part of the package.
  • Carry dry snacks/food from home (you will save a lot of money). Carry water bottles with you, so that you can refill.
  • Keep your luggage minimum; the more you carry, the more you hassle.
  • Children below the age of 7 years are not recommended for Trek.
  • Professional guide(s) are available to ensure high safety and more information and personal attention which are necessary to appreciate a Dainkund trek.
