Kenya eTA and Entry Rules for Indian Travellers

All Indian passport holders require an Electronic Travel Authorisation (eTA) submitted online via the official Kenya eTA portal at least 3 days before your departure date. Meant for single entries only, an eTA is valid for a period of up to 90 days from the date of issuance.

You will require a passport with a minimum of 6 months' validity, a passport-sized photograph, confirmed accommodation and flight details with proof for an onward or return journey. The application fee is approximately INR 2,900-6,000, depending on service charges, and takes a processing time of 3-5 business days.

After receiving your eTA in your email address, make sure to print it out for the immigration counter at Nairobi Airport.

Best Time to Visit Kenya from India

• Peak Safari Window (July-September): With a daytime temperature of 20–28°C, this is the best season for safaris with clear skies and dry weather. This is the most comfortable safari climate, which leads to high traveller demand, resulting in inflated pricing. This is why, if you are on a budget Kenya trip, we recommend not travelling in this window.
• Pre-Monsoon Season (January-February): You will find dry and sunny weather during this season, with a temperature of 25–32°C and increasing heat. If you don’t mind the heat, this is a great window for fewer crowds, great visibility, and strong wildlife sightings.
• Peak Monsoon Season (March-May): This window experiences frequent rain, leading to lush, green landscapes, dramatic skies, higher humidity, and a daytime temperature of 22-28°C. Due to the rain, the roads are muddy with poor visibility, making it unsuitable for a game-spotting-focused trip. 
• Pre-Peak Season (October-December): This window sees sudden bursts of rain during mid-November-December, with an average temperature of 24-28°C. October is relatively dry, with the short rainy periods still manageable for budget-conscious safari tours.
