Menengai Crater is a huge shield volcano that is largest calderas of the Kenya and the second largest in the Africa. Naturally, it is also one of the biggest volcano caldera of the world.
Highlights: Nestled on the floor of the Great Rift Valley, the volcano was formed some 200,000 years ago. On the other hand, the prominent 12 x 8 km caldera was formed 8000 years ago. The entire caldera floor is enveloped with several post caldera lava flows. It is definitely one of the best preserved Krakatau-style calderas of the world. Hiking through the beautiful crater makes for a great vacation.
Location: Menengai Crater is located 10 km north of Nakuru which is the 4th biggest city of Kenya.
