Often regarded as the lake side area, Bedugal is the first place you’ll reach on the hill top when you come fro, the South Bali. Despite that, you might not necessarily take a pause here since the area is very small.

Located near the Lake Bratan in the centre north region of the island on the road that lies between Singaraja and Denpasar, Bedugal lies 48 kilometres north of the capital city of Bali. Nestled in the Tabanan Regency, there are several lakes located in close proximity to this lake resort namely the Lake Tamblingan and Lake Buyan.

Given the fact that Bedugal lies at an elevation of about 1500 meters i.e. 4900 feet above the sea level, the weather here is pleasant. Some of the notable sites here include the Pura Ulun Danu Bratan water temple as well as the Bali Botanic Garden. Spread over an area of 157.5 hectares, this is also the largest botanic garden in Indonesia. The Bali Botanic Garden was opened in the year 1959 and is indeed the most important place to see here. So, whenever, you are up for a trip to Bali, do plan at least a day tour to this small beautiful city of Indonesia.

    Bali botanical garden is located in Candikuning region of Bedugul. Spread across 160 hectares, it has a huge coverage of trees and plants.     Pura Ulun Danu Bratan

    Also called as Lake Bratan Temple, Pura Ulun Danu Bratan was built in the year 1633. It is devoted to Ida Batara Dewi Ulun Danu, the goddess of lake. Bratan temple is on the western shore of the lake Bratan that gives an illusion of floating water. It is one of the most photographed and iconic temple in the island. The Mundul waterfall here lies in a valley that takes about a full day to descend. Besides, you can also swim at the waterfalls. These are definitely the two of the most important activities that you can experience in your day trip here.     Trekking the many trails around Bedugul

     Bedugal area of Bali is a home to 3 of the top 5 highest volcanoes of Bali. Because of this, there are a number of easy to gruel hikes that you can undertake here. You can take a Jatiluwih rice field trek which is definitely the most popular one here. Besides this, there are several other hikes that can be undertaken to explore the thick jungle up to the peaks of the mountain. The high 2096 meter peak, Gunung Catur is definitely one peak that towers the Bedugul area. It is definitely a hike that you cannot miss in Bali. This path is steep and only gets steeper with every step however, you’ll need to carry with you ample water to undertake this hike.     Located south of the Bedugul is the Ghost palace hotel. This lies on the main highway which leads you to the south of the island. Due to the financial troubles from the owner, this place was majorly abandoned for over a decade. However, you can sneakily enter the building by paying 5000 rupiah to the care takers who’ll help you sneak in. This definitely is a must visit place in Bedugul. Here you’ll get to see how majestic and alluring these abandoned buildings look like. Before you go there, keep a torch in your back pack as it maybe needed in few places here.
