Sandford Mill Museum Overview

The Sandford Mill Museum is a 20th-century museum located on the premises of the city of Chelmsford on the banks of the river Chelmer. It's unique and one of the most interesting tourist attractions in Chelmsford which exhibits and preserves the important industrial artifacts of modern society.

Sandford Mill Museum in the city of Chelmsford is dedicated to the history of industrial activities in the town, especially after the Industrial revolution. It has rightly been listed amongst the must place to visit in Chelmsford due to its history and information presence. The mill was originally a corn mill which was gradually converted into a waterwork site for Chelmsford Corporation in 1923.

The mill was later named Engine House but its architectural beauty, as well as the location on the banks of the river Chelmer, still made it distinctly recognizable. The mill was converted into a museum in the 1990s when it started being used for storage purposes of industrial artifacts. As the industrial revolution allowed more inventions, these artifacts became a piece of important history and gradually were put on display between the 1990s and 2000s. The museum isn’t regularly open to the public but only on specific days.
