Palatine Hill Overview

Palatine Hill is one of the tallest among the famous ‘Seven Hills of Rome’, and is known for its lush green beauty. The word Palatine is derived from the word palace, and during your visit, you will see enormous palaces. You'll be able to see ruins of palaces and spaces that were created for high Roman society in ancient times.

Palatine Hill is famously known as the green heaven, as this ancient historic place's ruins are full of wildflowers and lush greenery. During your visit, you will also get to witness animals like rabbits and hares hopping around. It has huge retaining walls, Imperial Palace, and aviaries dating back to the 17th century. You can visit the Seven Hills of Rome and have a picnic under the shade of the trees in the Farnese Gardens. The Palatine Hill is one of the tallest hill towers of the Seven Hills and it gives some of the most stunning views of the major landmarks of Rome. One of the most interesting elements that you would come across at Palatine Hill during your visit is the beautiful floor designs made up of marble near the elliptical fountain of the Domus Flavia. Heading out to the vista point on Palatine Hill, you will get to capture a bird's eye view of everything in the Roman Forum below. You will also get to witness the Circus Maximus and the Aventine Hill on opposite sides of Palatine Hill.
